Are you threatening me on a game forum? LOL
People who can't obey simple rules without throwing a hissy fit and screaming like a 2 year old don't deserve the freedoms we have in this country. If the dumbass would have cooperated, none of this would have happened. But no, he used it as an opportunity to protest against the patriot act and whatever else he was babbling about, so he got zapped. Maybe next time he'll do what the cops ask him to do.
Freedom does not give you the right to disobey & and outright slander the cops anywhere you please... He's a dumbass...

You DO realize that this guy got tasered at LEAST four times for not being able to stand up after being tasered the first time, right?
Please go take a video clip of yourself being tasered 4-5 times, and see if you can walk normally right after that.

I want all people like you gone, doesn't mean I'm going to handle it myself you tard.
Also resisting arrest has multiple other methods of getting dealt with. Pepper spray for one, and physically taking him down for another. No however they use a tazer, which depending on the person, could be fatal. Furthermore, using it multiple times and asking him to do something which wasn't possible. I've seen HUGE people get tazered and not be able to get up, can't expect him to stand right up.
Why the hell was the cop asking him to stand up anyway? From what I've seen cops turn you on your stomach and cuff you from behind. What they did was inhumane tbh, and your entitled to your opinion and im entitled to tell you how stupid you are. =============================================== And Scoundrelus walked the Forums once again, and all was turned to flame... |

Do you know what's worse than any other crime? Abuse by the ones that are meant to uphold the law. Why? Because it removes any respect you might have had for the police, it makes people ****ed off, and it can make the good cops hesitant to use the same means where it's actually necessary.

Then why was the idiot screaming about the patriot act?
He's an Iranian American protesting the patriot act on a college campus via resisting arrest.
No matter how the cops subdued him and taken him into custody, you'd all be crying about it. And it would be a big assed news story, and the cops would be wrong no matter how you slice it...

Totally justified. By refusing to leave he was effectivly trespassing. You can get shot for that in Texas.
The effects of a taser only last so long as the person is being electrocuted. Once the current is stopped the effects are gone.

From what I heard he refused to leave when he was initally told to. Even if he was in the process of leaving he was still in the wrong. Nothing would of come of it if he had simply obeyed the officers.

Darkmatter, your being a tard.
The school performs routine ID checks at 11 PM, however he had forgotten/didn't have his and was told to leave.
He was in the process of LEAVING when the cops showed up, who then tazed him.
I've been tazed before (by a civilan tazer...they hurt), as soon as your tazed you drop to the ground and you can't do anything. The cops demanded him to get up, after they tazed him, threatening to taze him again. Its borderline impossible to stand up after being tazed. After the first time he didn't get up, they tazed him FOUR more times, and still demanded for him to get up.
It is possible to die from being tazed that much. _________________________

You *can* get shot for that in Texas on private personal property (your home, family owned business etc). Its really only applicable if someone comes to your home and is threatening. If they refuse to leave after being asked you have the *right* to shoot them. And before you make some bull**** response. I live in Texas and have for the past 28 years.
Dont paint a picture as if this were to have happened at UT, the cops could have riddled the student full of lead because he refused to leave. Thats bull**** and you know it.
Is there anyone here whose been tasered before? i just called a friend whose a cop in austin, he said thats right. as soon as the current stops you can get up and walk around. no debilitating effects.

That wasn't what I was saying at all. I was making the point that the guy wasn't innocent and he was may have been commiting a crime.
Also, UCLA isn't exactly public property in the same sense as a park or rest stop. If you tried to walk into a college campus at night where you had no business being, and refused to leave when they asked you, you would likely be arrested for trespassing. The campus has a responsibility to protect it's students and they had no way of verifying that he was a student at the time. (keep in mind that a lot sexual assaults and robberies occur on college campuses at night, often done by people who aren't students)

Fault by the cops
1. There shouldÆve been a reason why they stopped him why he was walking out, why stop someone who is complying? 2. they did not control the crowd situation well at all, there was a MAJOR potential for others to get physically involved, primarily not addressing the student who asked for the badge number in a civil way (he was just trying to make a scene, but you still have to respond to it, instead of threatening to taser a guy just asking for information, this further riles up the crowd) 3. using the taser initially is an excessive use of force, every police protocol I have seen (quite a few) is only directed the officer to taser if the suspect was suspected of carrying a weapon. In this case, a simple take down and cuffing was called for (after the subject became confrontational, mind you) 4. you cannot stand up after being tasered 4 times, its physically impossible, I blame the entire police force for this one, putting tasers in the hands of untrained people is incompetence and asking for an incident and a lawsuit 5. Not calling for backup when a crowd has appeared, this is STANDARD procedure, links to #2
On another note, the argument that "the guy wasnÆt cooperating, therefore use any force necessary" is obscene, there MUST be trust in law enforcement, for both the safety of the officers, the subjects and bystanders. Incidents like this erode that trust.
Hopefully no one takes this wackjob's opinions as the consensus of Americans, it is not, this can be seen in the video. Many people where on the verge of attacking the police officers.

fair enough. they do have an obligation to protect their students. i agree 100% with you on that. they went overboard though. i saw 4 officers there more then enough strength to manhandle him out of the building.
