Yeah.. you won't go into it because you don't have any idea what you're talking about.
I don't want them to open their discussions to us - I just want an explaination. They know what our complaints are. It isn't a big deal to explain a bit about why we're wrong.
Hell - if Tux has time to cuss at people on the forums about how "everything is just ******* fine", then I'm sure he can give us an idea on why ECM is OK the way it is, why it is OK that NOS is becoming as powerful as it is. They can explain where they are going with the game balance.

No - because I'm not a stockholder in McDonalds. I have nothing invested in them. However I DO have a lot of time and money invested in Eve.
Quote: Do you ask car companies why they changed a certain feature on the newer model of a car you own?
This example is even stupider than your first one. My old car still works just fine. The new one is of no consequence. It is not as if they are force recalling all the old cars and ******* them up before sending them back.

Once again, this is a poor analogy. I've explained why above.

Clearly you don't have a clue. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BLOODY PRODUCT INDUSTRY, NOT SERVICE INDUSTRY.

They know it, and we live with it. For a developer, I'd think reading the forums would be the worst possible way to spend their day. So many -ssholes and know-it-alls, constantly throwing insults and questioning their judgement?
Yeah, no way I'd do it, cause I'd end up doing something else 'stupid' and deleting certain players' accounts, or hiring some group in game to grief the idiotic mother f-cker till he REALLY quits.
Just my take on the 'loyal playerbase.'
Yeah, it probably won't make me happy. On the other hand, I won't keep wasting my time, hoping that something will come to fix the problems.
It is as simple as that. If CCP has a desire to radically change the gameplay or implement some sort of twisted forced roleplay (my personal conspiracy theory, nothing more), then I think they might take the courtesy to inform their customers (who have put in a significant investment) of the changes so that the customers can make an informed choice about their future investments.
If they want to change the game, great. I'm not going to claim to know better than them. But I'd like to know whether I should take my money and time elsewhere or not.
Originally by: HankMurphy agreed. if i was a dev and read half this shyte ppl spew, i would be taking names and crashing nodes at incredibly inconvinient times.
then i would personally respond to their petitions telling them i was glad they lost their raven on a lvl 4 and NO i wont replace it.
Well - they still do read it. They probably read this post. Being that there isn't already a dev post present here, there probably will never be one. I would have been remiss to not try however.
In this post I'm not telling them that they suck or that I know better than them. I'm requesting that they improve their customer service. That's all. Just to explain where they are going with the game balance so that we (the customer) can make informed decisions.

I guess you need to look at their track record and make a good, informed, decision.
But they do communicate w/ us. It takes some digging sometimes to see it all, but its out here on the site.
We see shorter term changes, and they let us know what they want to do w/ Kali. We get peeks at long term (walking in station and planetary interaction) and they are very forthcoming with info regarding hardware/software changes and issues
but for them to have total disclosure on everything they do and every change they make, thats just impractical. If ppl want to put forth the effort the info is out there. Whether or not its enough info for ppl? well ya cant please everyone

****it, I'm talking about balance here!
I'm asking them to explain why they they are doing is balanced. I DON'T want them to erase all of the suprises. I just want them to be able to explain how people who have already invested in certain skillsets haven't just been bent over.

the guys post has some valid points and the reasoning behind ccp not posting as much info is very clear also.
imo there is 1 thing i'd like to see from them as they have a nice habbit of throwing in easter eggs into the game from time to time, and thats an advertisment on the day of that easter eggs release.
as for kali and the information that people are after, you guys must remember that it is still in testing phase and that how things are on kali may not always be the same as when transfered over to tranquility. changes to ships which a lot of people have been moaning about does happen and i do agree that double nerfs suck big time. they should try it out with 1 nerf at a time to see what kind of differences it makes. just cos they do do that doesnt mean they will answer threads upon threads about it, but it does catch their eye and maybe convince them to take a 2nd look at what they did

A lot of very strang nerfs/"buffs" seem to be fairly set in stone, however. One of my points here is that they need more time in testing to figure out if things are balanced or what.

You guys should take some time spend on other games forums and in other mmorpgs, and then after you've seen what Devs discuss there with their community, and what impact any complaints had on the changes afterwards had, come back and whine about not enough info.
We get regular updates on how things are going, forum-discussions are a part of their decisionmaking, so of course they dont run through everything with the whole member-base, since it takes too much time, they'd prolly make promises they cant/shouldnt have to keep etc.
Prolly same as you I spend quite some time keeping up to date with Kali, and there isnt really this huge thing unknown to anyone cause ccp isnt talking about it.
The devs read the forums and take it into account, but they're not responsible for going through every single question or concern a player has. Siganture removed due to profanity - Serathu ([email protected]) |
