actually, i have the exact same problem on 1 system, but not on another.
what happens for me is this, i get past the char select screen and as soon as its finished loading space or station, it crashes to desktop. no matter what i do, its consistent in not letting me even so much as finish loading the UI (in station or in space, doesn't matter).. and like the OP said.. 2 secs.. and kicked to desktop.
the system that crashes only has on-board audio and video (intel pentium 4) while the system that works fine has a dedicated audio/video setup.
both vid cards are ATI based (working: radeon 9800 pro AIW AGP card / not working: ati 9100 Integrated graphics chip)
i'm not sure what the rest of the spec's are on the system that crashes to desktop (its a work comp, and i havn't the time while at work to spend digging deeper into its configuration, while my working system at home is an amd athlon 64/3000+ [o/c'd to 2.4ghz] w/ a radeon 9800 pro All in wonder, a SB Audigy 2 ZS Plat. and 1gb of ram)
hope this helps at least a little.
to the OP: is your video card integrated?

I have clear the cach, reinstall, always the same situation. (For bug report, I have send dual dxdiag 32 and 64 bits and the serverlog). I have already a bug since dragoon, my fps are decreased at each jump 1 day on 2 ... No answer of CCP and now, I can't connect, it's really a good gift Kali ...

No ... All programs 32 bits run on a 64 bits version and a friend have this version of Windows. The big difference, it's the drivers. 64 bits need 64 bits drivers, 32 bits need 32 bits driver and 16 bits isn't supported :P
CCP can create a version compiled in 64 bits for gain perf, yes ...

Logserver logs and dxdiag files here: LINK http://eve.merdex.ru/logserver_dx_files.rar
Crashdump file do not generates.
I got this too, I fixed it by removing the msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll from the bin directory. Vivox won't work but you'll be able to load the game.
Just try it, you never know. Could work. Remember to backup files. :)

We will not reply to bug reports. Crash dumps are found in your client folder, we need those aswell if you crash. as well as log server files. ___________________________ ~Jiekon

Same problem here. game crashes immediatly after loading up. My other charactors are unaffected though. clearing cache hasn't helped, very strange how it should only affect 1 charactor on my account. Bones heal and chicks dig scars

This could be tied to a bug I just reported.
XP and Vista has a feature called Data Execution Prevention that kicks in on Kali when the chat feature tries to run. This, on Vista, shows up a big error about Blue.dll trying to execute data in a non execute area of memory and the program will be forcably closed down. This happens just as the chat channels pop up and as such you get a few seconds of seeing your ship and then eve closes or errors out.
No error logs are generated as windows kills eve before anything can be reported by it internally.
This occurs on my release version of Vista (RTM v6000) I have at work so it is going to be a big problem come vista release if its not fixed. I have provided memory dumps, crash logs etc and have even tried work arounds by stopping DEP from checking running files (Vista64 wont let you though as its all security focused) and trying to stop DEP totally (not good to do). ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

I'm also having the exact same problem.
I've tried a friends account and the same happens. I've deleted all cached files and no difference. I've re-installed the client on numerous occasions using different update paths and the same still happens The msvcp71.dll files have now been updated to the 80 versions and removing or deleteing these cause the client to detect a change or corruption in the client and will not load.
It does appear to cause the problem when the chat window initialises and you can do most things in the 5 seconds for this to happen but then closes without warning and i'm yet to find a dump or log file for this event.
I'm using Windows XP (sp2) AMD Athlon 64 3200+ nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT PCI-E

Negative on that one i run XP x64 and i have no issues apart from the lag and CTD's through reproducible bugs, as for the DEP suggestion, mines currently set to the windows default option which is "Turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only" also of not is if an application is closed due to DEP kicking in it will display a popup to let you know thats what it has done.
Apart from that check graphics drivers check sound drivers and make sure your machine meets the required specs to run EVE :) ---

Same issue here, unchanged with current build. Bug already reported in detail, will new bug reports for each new build help or just clutter up the bug queue?
You may also contact me ingame (TQ) if you need further information. I work in Software QA in RL so I know how much I'd have liked some more direct contact to a customer and knowledgeable info about his computer in some cases...

Since Dragoon, I have problem ... I have try to reinstall the game, clear cache, try a lot of drivers, the problem still. Now, this bug with fps (decrease at each jump but not all day about 1 day on 2) since Dragoon. I open 2 account, 1 with lag the second without lag ... Someone can explain this ?
Why one account, I have lag (eve take 98-99% cpu) and the second run very well (if I reduce the priority of first) ?
For Kali (game crash when entering in space), I reinstall my system this week-end. I install only Windows x64 with all patchs/drivers and I try to connect on the test server ...

I also have the same issue.
Just reinstalled test client with latest patch Cleared the cache - still crashes after about 10 seconds of entering station. I tried removing/renaming those dll's (whcih are now in bin\Microsoft.VC80.CRT and are now have 80 in name) but I get corrupt client message.
Also disabled sound from options menu at character selection screen - no joy.
I'm running XP sp 2 on athlon 64, ATI Radeon X800 agp graphics and a platronics USB digital audio headset - I disabled the headsaet but still no luck.

I am confused as to how this can be a hardware or software problem in my case since this problem only affects 1 of the charactors on my account and not the others.

I have resolve crash pb.
it s hardware pb , seem kali don't detect my sound card.
i get some pb with soundblaster.(SB is detect at start of windows, but disable sometime later after start)
so i have restart windows et try immediatly KALI and no crash.
so for me it s a sound device detection.
seem , if kali can't detect sound device, eve crash

We have a thread going here aswell:
Things that it is NOT/attempted fixes: Double Soundcard's conflict Routers with VOiP support Disabling sounds in client does nothing Lowering graphics does nothing
I would ask you all to try loading the client on a different machine if possible and trying to log on. This could help pin-point the problem.

Quote: Routers with VOiP support
I have a VOIP Router and no problem on another (old) pc behind the same router ...
I think, it's Vivox ... Since Vivox, I can't connect ... May be a compatibility problem between Vivox and Realtek ALC850 (Sound chip on the A8N-E ...)
EDIT :

It's a game YES ... But you pay for this game and when you pay for nothing because you can't connect ...

Yesterday one of the causes of this crash was, being shot/shoting while flying a myrimadon with turret effects on, and docking in a myrimadon would cause the pilot to either A) crash to desktop or B) get stuck docking and have to be moved by a super. It's great being Amarr ain't it?
