Edited by: Tricit on 19/11/2006 20:40:31 Instincts; I have found them.
My interest peaked when I was allowed into a corporation with an average of two and a half years per player in game time. I thought this would be awsome. They have jump clones, carriers, dreadnoughts, even a few motherships.
I converse with them. I try to learn from them. One then I find astonishing is, they are learning more from me than I from them. I think, okay, atleast they have fun. My preparations to go up with them into battle commenced two days ago. I become a little more intuitive and sharing in my knowledge.
Suddenly, I am interrogated. I am a spy? Well, no. However, to them I am. I disagree, they disagree, then I passionately disagree, they play the same card. I use logic to tell them how a smart person would play dumb if they were a spy. They throw the same card at me, which has about twenty four flaws in itself.
Then, comes my anger. I am not angry I can't have their clones. I am not angry I can't engage in their PvP. I am angry though. How? Well, two things. I now have a slightly tarnished reputation. What is the other, you might ask? Well, they keep renewing my roles. It's all settled. I tell a GM, he says I'll have to wait for a second expiration date. He say's he'll make sure it goes through this time. Twenty hours untill I leave. TWENTY! I get frustrated.
So I hunt...
I check the map. To my delight, there is green all over the corporate member map! . They've been recruiting newbies lately. Jita, my destination. I set course, and let Aurora know that it's time to go. I sit at a gate in Jita. A green box with a white star shows up. Dare I tell you what I was flying.
Well, I know anyone who has read this far will be curious. I took a throw away insured Arbitrator. 2 heavy drones, 2 medium drones, 1 light drone, 2 light lasers, 1 assault launcher and 1 nosferatu for the offensive. My trap was a webbifier, a long range scrambler finished off with a micro warp drive. My defense. This is the funny part. I know I would win every engagement if I did this just right, I slapped on one large shield extender, three diagnostic units and a warp core stabilizer. I mean, I'm not here for honor, I'm here for revenge. They took my time and I'm here to take it back! Also, if you're mad that I killed their new recruits, they've been suppling them with ships. No fear, technically I am stealing from the higher ends.
So a couple explosions later, they finally understand what is going on. I block them because I am flaky and skiddish. However, I have no problem retaliating against those that intentionally hurt me with no more of a reason than speculation that I am a spy.
I'm a spy. Well, no. However, you just got something worse.
In sum, I wish I could do more, but like I said, I am skiddish. Killing anymore in high security would make me have a seizure. It is a mental constrain, not a mechanical one.
I hope you enjoyed, good day.

So you were accused of being a spy by 'upper management' of your corp, so you went and killed newbie recruits of your corp.
... um nice work ...
Way to go with taking the high ground. At least you are advertising your 'abilities' for any other corp you might join with. ___________________

Firstly: this isn't the recruitment thread.
Secondly: This is "Crime" and "Punishment".
Thirdly: as my post states, all their ships were purchased for them by upper management. Therefore, I was taking upper managements money.
Finally: you fail at your flame.

I'm not sure what he means by renewing his roles, but I'm guessing that whenever it gets done, the person remains locked in the corp for a bit. Since the corp wasn't allowing him to leave, he went and hit the corp where he felt it would hurt the most. The only way to stop him would be to kick him out of the corp, which is what he wanted in the first place.
Tricit, one question, after you killed one of the new recruits, did you tell them why you killed them ? -----------------

I went through the same thing. Got accused as being a spy by TTI's internal security guy. (This was after I left mind you) They, upper management, went so far as to kick every close friend that I had out of the corporation. And, a few months later, it turns out that the internal security guy was the mole all along.
Renewing the roles of someone leaving the corp is an exploit. Revenge against such pettiness is more than justified. Shame you had to brutalize new players though. I'd have locked a few down and taken them to structure but I wouldn't have gone so far as to destroy someone's ship no matter who bought the ship.
It was still the new player's ship and you still took hostile action against a corp mate. I won't waggle my finger at you and say, "Tsk, tsk, tsk." However, in equal measure, I would vote no against you joining our corp.
You understand revenge a bit too well and honor a bit too little.

I liked your story but I gotta agree with Shar here. I would have just left the corp. Popping corpies is bad no matter how you slice it, no matter what. I'd never pop a corpmate -- I know a few who would probably pop me though if given reason.

It's not that I don't comprehend, I just don't agree. Sure popping the newbies in the corp-provided ships affects the corp wallet somewhat. However, not very much, and you're not really proving anything by popping nubs. You are, however, proving that you're an untrustworthy corp mate because if you disagree with corp policies you'll pop corpmates.
Yeah it sucks that they keep reassigning your roles, but you flew a kite to CCP and they're working on it. Just let that play its course, or even better steal everything out of the corp hangar you can get your hands on and reprocesses it. That would be far more effective than what you're doing now, and (though it's corp theft) a lot more honorable.

I did. You had the choice of taking it up the bum or striking back. It's that simple. I'm sure many of us can respect that you have that fighting spirit and struck back. Others of us... well we are just a bit troubled by who you struck, even that you struck, back.
But, all things said and done, we were not in your shoes. You made the choice that best fits you. Don't defend your actions. To some of us it's indefensible so why bother?
Stand by them with the self dignity that you were trying to reclaim.

A follow up last thought for you: I'm almost envious that you did strike back whereas I did not. For anyone to say that we do not have within each of us the desire to strike back at an unfair accuser would be a lie. Going the path of idealism is often lonely and filled with little comfort.
Especially since most people either a) won't know about it, b) couldn't give a crap and c) call you a fool for doing it.
I respect your choice. I simply don't like it and that may not be entirely your fault.
I'm done now. I mean it when I said stand by this with your dignity intact. Imho it is.

i thought it was funny.
if you think someones a spy have proof and kick them from the corp straight away.
in an old corp we had some stuff stolen and it was one of 2 new guys. we had to kick them both which i didnt like just to be sure. i felt bad kicking the guy i knew wasnt the thief but it had to be done.

Killing innocent recuits ships/fun to get back at a exploiting management leaves a bit of a sour taste. Finding a way to gank one of the management ships woulda been more fitting.
But then I wasnt there and wasnt in that situation so who knows.
Well written story

Hey there,
Anyone who's seen my other posts knows I tend to play devil's advocate, especially when some moron whines that they got their XXX blowin up in low sec and pies are all child molesters irl but I digress...
There were a couple points in this story that seemed odd to me. Firstly they think you are a spy, but they don't want you to leave the corp? For me that'd be thing 1 to do, kick suspect spy from corp.
Two they are learning more from you than you from them? Ok so these 2yr olds are all former high sec miners? What did you teach them? I'm not saying you can't have known more I'm just curious what the knowledge you had that they got all jumpy over was.
Three were they all yelling you must be a spy, or just the corp asshat(s)? Every corp seems to have a corp asshat. I laugh a little every time our's gets podded. The point is on this one that mabey your roles were renewed because you had some advocate who wanted you to stay, prior to your retrobution that is...
Finally, this story is pretty one sided, and likely to stay that way since the offending corp has not been named. Who were these overly paranoid folks you struck back against?

I'm the guy who relief him of his service. We don't really like to bring tragic stories like this to the public, but if Tricit give me permission to speak freely about this internal human resource incident I will tell my side of the story.
I must also clarify that no personnel cycled his permission. He had hangar permission, it was removed and he was expelled from corp 24h and 2m later.
Our current members have high morale and we take pride in our honour!

Whoever started the malicious rumor that the Ganja lads are paranoid is obviously in the employ of our legion of enemies. All lies. I will have you know that we take mental hygiene very seriously in our corp and frown upon states of consciousness that diverge from the norm. That said, it its clear that this Trinket person (whoever his main may be) is an agent provocateur out to sow discord in our ranks, doubts in our allies and undermine moral in general.
I just feel for our poor poor n00bs that got podded so underhandedly by this person in Jita. We will soothe bruised egos and polish dented ships at our next drum circle and group hug session in Umokka this weekend. See you all there. All is welcome except Tricit. Well à.. he can come to watch, but no hug.
There will be no more Ganja postings in this thread. End HEMP transmission.

I support the OPs decision. Some corps can be stupid like that. His corp knew he wanted to leave, attempted to frustrate him by renewing his roles, as far as I'm concerned, at that point he is no longer in the corp, figuratively speaking of course. That makes everybody in the corp a target, unfortunately the corp was too stupid to see that. Or fortunately rather. =============================================== And Scoundrelus walked the Forums once again, and all was turned to flame... |

Good work Tricit.
I believe you did the right thing.
"Shooting a corp mate is wrong" - whoever said that, give me a break. You clearly didn't read Tricit's story.
They weren't really your corp mates, they weren't your friends, and they did nothing to earn your respect or trust.
Furthermore, you gave them time to do so. Not only did they not earn trust and respect, they did the opposite, and tried to F you in the A with their B.
Attacking a corp mate when you have just joined (with the intention of staying) is WRONG. Attacking corp mates whom you have flown with for some time, shared a lot with, earned and lost a lot with, and spent time on vent/ts with is WRONG.
Killing these idiot's recruits after they did something like that to you is RIGHT.
Good work :). --------- |
