Edited by: Roddic on 20/11/2006 06:11:18 just out of curiosity, how many other people would like to see empire space shrink or grow depending on set variables.
ie if alot of pirateing occurs in choke points, then sec status drops. but if alot of bounty hunting occurs then sec status increases.
or if a low sec status corparation(pirate corp) moves into a border system, then after a while empire percieves it as a threat and raids the corps assets/fixtures(there pirates they have no rights).
or if a particularily successful bounty/pirate hunting corp moves into a system, then empire withdraws there suport(hunter corp is doing a good job, no need for empire to be as villagent).
anyway, a few way out there thoughts, flame away you usually do.

it'll be cheesed.
one corp will go out there with the specific purpose of reducing ALL systems to 0.0
If not many.

thats the good part though, cause it would then give peeps an extra reason to stop that corp. would be sort of like a catch 22 system. if you want to be safe, defend that right. and if you want to spread the lawlessness then you can fight for that too. borders arn't set in concrete, they change with the times :)

I'm with Gnord. EvE players will band together and work around the clock to ruin someone's day, but they won't get together and work hard to make the game not suck. They'll just quit playing. -------------- Civis Ascendant Sum |

Interesting idea. I like having more dynamic components in the game environment. Atm, things are too static. However, I'd agree that there would be people just running around to lower the status. At the very least pirate hunters would know where to head towards. I guess its just a matter of there being more pirates than pirate hunters :)
I'd also be interested to find out what happens when a low sec status player docks in a 0.4 system then wakes up in a 0.5 system

Dynamic security status is an interesting idea. There should be a fixed core of empire systems that can never lose sec status, but perhaps some border regions should have sec status that players can change through deliberate action. ------------------------ *opinions stated are not necessarily those of my corporation or alliance |

thats within the context of the suggestion. if thats what players want, then they should be able to do it.
thats what the game is all about anyway, space and carving out a empire to call home. making things more interesting in the border systems would probably draw a few more people out of central empire space, and it would be nice to drop the security of a system or 2, and possibly raise it in a few others.

Thats why there is 0.0 -----------------------------------------------

There's security rating, and then there's in-game-(virtual)realities.
0.4 space and lower are free-for alls! 0.5 and higher is "get nuked if you attack someone." Other then that, security doesn't really matter. Except to pirates who's Concord rating drops so low they can't enter empire space... but then they just go killing lots of NPCs until Concord likes them again.

Interesting concept..
Is this not natural evolution of enviroment.
I enjoy the mechanics of the game as they stand as of now.. But it would be interesting to have 'floating' security status of systems.
Take for example, there are citys around the world where 50 years ago the rich and wealthy lived in perfect harmony.. Only to have crooks and bandits move in to the point where law enforcemnet fear to tread.
An interesting idea would be to have the sec status of a system governerd by they sec status of players. For example if the majority of players in a system were neg sec status, the system sec status would drop. Positive, the opposite effect. Maybe an average taken over a period of days..
It would be fun to have say Jita become low sec at some point... the shift in economy would be interesting to see....
As i said at the start, i enjoy the mechanics as they stand.. I also think that this concept is pretty much un-workable.. But it is an interesting idea...
