I think there should be a way for the player to cancel his/her Warp Drive when warping. It could come in handy if you're passing something that looks important and it's not marked on radar or the HUD when you're too far away. It's would be even more handy when you have a ship that can make massive jumps and part of the way there you decide you don't want to go there anymore. That way you wouldn't have to wait for the drive to shut down on it's own. All that would really have to be added is a button to shut the drive down. Maybe it could require a specific Warp Drive Operation level to use? Maybe #2? Let me know what everyone thinks.

I think it is time to have a cancel warp button again. I have heard stories that in beta it was a feature but was removed due to "You Guessed it" EXPLOITATION. People would use small warp burst to break a target lock or something like that so they removed it.
Would love to see it re-introduced though. "You've Got to be Nuckin Futs!!" |

I know this thread's kinda old, but I thought of an idea to remove the exploitation. What if when you select to warp somewhere, if someone has targeted you, you would be unable to abort the warp. That way if you're travelling and make a mistake, you can cancel. If you're trying to get out of a fight by moving 2 ft' in a warp, too bad, you gotta go to the destination you selected with several people following you.

Afaik, cancel warp is on chaos now, and with the new patch, you can target players when they are preparing to warp. Haven't tested myself, but reports from others claim so. :) _________________ Do unto others before they do unto you. |

That won't be necessary Naggarok, you don't lose lock when your target gets into warp-alignment mode anymore and you can only abort the warp in the alignment mode time. You can try it out on chaos.

As of 1254 you can cancel your warp on Tranquility. Just hit the "Stop ship" or CTRL-SPACE before the actual warp starts.
And I don't recall cancelling warp ever being possible in beta, but I could be wrong. |
