Take region chat; it is a nice idea, and the structure/skeleton is there.
To improve social life in EVE we need a chat channel (on by default)
that would encapsulate all regions belonging to a faction (Amarr, Galente,...)
I believe that pilots underestimate the power of a strong social chat channel and the benefits it brings:
- pilots would be encouraged to log on just to partake in the chatter.
And now comes the drumming of the phycological vampires that will inevitably as the sun errodes the mornig dew try to suck the nectar from this chat/post. Thus, almost any response is about as well come as a fart.

Okay okay! i agree; i talk demonic.
Its just a chat channel that you access by traveling into a constellation/region that belongs to an empire faction such as Galentte.
So that would be 4 chat channels.
No one can be in more then one channel at a time; otherwise the area would belong to more than one faction.
So somebody would inevitably ask
what about player factions?
To helm with pvp... the mere memmory of how pvp has erroded rp in general stinks to high helm for pvp is obviouslly a subset in rp where rp is the ability to commit any action imaginable... but i digress, for i tend to FORGET I AM SUROUNDED BY PEOPLE THAT GET NOSE BLEEDS.

Well, Jita Local is really a good & interesting channel. Well, now it will be Jita all over HighSec.

Jita is slow for there are 1 k ships in there too; not just chatters.

I do this (chatter, not log in just for chatter because that's a ridiculous reason to log into a game) in the Haulers Channel, a player created channel, spanning all regions (unfortunately certain Null areas as well), races, groups and identities. Standard NPC corporation chats with thousands of people in them also already exist. Back in my beginning days, the Hedion University channel was also filled with helpful and supportive people who helped me get a smooth and exciting start into the game. The Rookie Help chat is also already on by default for beginners to get them started in a social environment. I cannot say from own experience as I have never been in the starter corp, but from what I have heared, people in Center for Advanced Studies also have already taken the rookie starter corp concept further and created a community in the NPC corp and beyond.
If people crave for social life, it is their responsibility to create the social life in EVE. There are already numerous channels in the game that facilitate social interaction. Just because an "on by default" channel exists does not mean that people converse in an encouraging and positive manner to foster social interaction. Personally, I have come to the conclusion that huge channels are sometimes detrimental to social interaction when there are either hundreds of silent member corpses or when some people exploit the channel for their own ill-affected goals and personally attack other participants of the channel who point out their ill-behavior as I recently noticed between a couple of haulers and CODE affiliates in the Haulers Channel. Haulers disagreed with CODE and instead of laying out CODE's principles and goals in a constructive way, the CODE affiliates immediately started to insult and slur the disagreeing haulers.
The same is inevitably going to happen in your suggested huge channel which is a melting pot of different ideas, goals and principles and instead of fostering social life, it is just going to be something that people turn off quickly because of the spam, scams and slander taking place in the game and that is just going to demonstrate what a lovely community the EVE community is in yet another channel besides NPC corps and Rookie Help chat.
But go for it: Faction channels already exist. They are under the Factions section. Try to bring people in there, make it a channel that people want to be in and that helps and entertains people. See how it goes.

That the perspective from A Priory versus A Posteriory knowledge .
We keep saying things like "well they better just get here them selves " or "well they had better then just login to the uber fairy chat extreme that everybody knows about" ... or "well how come they do not just go to jita and chat chat chat "
You keep falling into the fallacy that there is experience that brings you from A Priory to A Posteriory knowledge/experience.
Can someone who is not screaming at this point to bridge the gap between the two spots: the veteran who knows the system abd thus knows where stuff is; and the rookie who knows nothing and hates it and leaves cause the space is vapid void and full of pieces of **** that lie cheat and steal"
