ôBrothers, we must Riseö
A great man spoke these words. I was lucky enough to be there when he did.
You will have heard of us. We have been called traitors and terrorists and rebels and every other name under MatarÆs sun, but let me tell you this. We are all loyal and we have never stopped being loyal, but our loyalty is to our people.
I was a proud member of the Republic Fleet. I upheld The Duty of the Fleet. But after what I saw and what I experienced while doing my duty, I could not in all conscience stay. Billions of our people remain in bondage, and they call out to us. We are their blood, their kin, their hope. We are the ones sworn to protect them. We are the ones whose constant failure to act is a blight on our Republic's soul.
We looked to our leaders for guidance but our great Republic has become complacent. Our rulers are mired in their own petty political struggles, deaf to their own people screaming out for freedom from the sadistic rule of the Amarr. They see the beast that is the Empire and they tremble, they fall to their knees in submission.
That stops now.
There were once men who stood strong against the Amarrians. No matter what was thrown at them, they never knelt in supplication, they never bowed as slaves. These men were called the Defiants, we will carry their name into the heart of Amarr and make them tremble at the sound of it.
We will kneel no longer.
We will rise.

That you, of all, sir, would be the one to lose faith and give in to this impatience, to forget the first mission of Never Again letting the long night in - that is a such severe blow to those of us who still hold true to our oaths that I cannot start to describe the pain it causes.
Captain, I beg of you, one more time, put aside this anger and remember what you fought for. You have been wronged - none of us can deny this - but this is not the way to repay it. Your actions only serve will fling us to a war that will devour us all, and however we have failed you, that is not what your people deserve from you.
You are not just any terrorist on the fringes. Your deeds count for so much more. You can stop this madness, but if you do not, I am not sure anyone else still can.
Come home, Captain. We need you.

To do what you feel is right, and being called coward and slaver-sympathiser is not exactly easy either.
It's too hard for even heros like Karishal Muritor, in fact. He is the one taking the easy way out, here, though I am sure it does not look like that for everyone.

Admiral Muritor, I am confident that you are still upholding the Duty of the Fleet. If the rest of the Republic Fleet isn't holding to their duty, that's no fault of yours. I salute your efforts.
Freedom fighters must be terrorists. Freedom cannot be gained except by going to those who oppress you and making them see that the pain that you will inflict on them for holding your people in bondage is higher than the pain of releasing them. Many Matari have forgotten this. It is good to see that many will never forget or forgive. _

I am not speaking in my official capacity for the Namtz'aar k'in at this time, this is only a personal veiw.
Karashal, I do not know if I can trust you. During your service, I respected you deeply and came to you first with what I discovered. I expected you, with your influence and position, to attempt to wake the republic leaders, and renew it.
The republic, like it or hate it, is still the strongest matari force in existance. Without it, amarr would long ago have consumed us. Your actions weaken this republic, your theft and the divisiveness you cause, and your refusal to discuss your plans raises doubts.
It pains me greatly that there are still matari slaves among the amarrians. But, if your actions cause a war, then those slaves will have no safe home to flee to.
Karishal, I wish to trust you, but I do not let that wish blind me to the consequences your actions are bringing down on us all. It is hard to trust someone when you only can feel their knife slowly sliding between your ribs.
If you want me to trust you, I demand that trust back. What are you doing, what do you hope to accomplish?
You swore to me once, that you would start no war. That your actions were measured, and for a reason.
So, Brother, tell me. Can you justify your actions? I am willing to listen. I pray you are willing as well.

One can rise in many ways. You have chosen to gird yourself for battle, to make the skies themselves tremble with the noise of your many cannon, to rain destruction down on the worlds and vessels of those that seek to oppose you.
Strange as it seems, you may kill as many of your enslaved bretheren in a direct conflict as you could ever hope to save - they crew the vessels of your enemy, and are kept close enough by certain cowardly individuals to be used as human shields. It is impossible not to know this, for one of your experience, Admiral. You know this, and yet you continue on this path.
I will repeat this, since it bears repeating.
You know this, and yet you continue.
You would put those you hope to save at risk, you would gamble on numbers in a game where every token is a life, and where all the cards are marked and the deck stacked against you.
I have been a soldier, Admiral, and fought on more sides than was good for my sanity. I know something of planetbound warfare, and I will say this - it has little chance of accomplishing anything truly useful. As for space battles, well, I suppose we shall see how useful they may be - every Amarrian capsuleer you kill will awaken within the hour, resurrected and ready to fly his backup ship, to call his allies into the system, to return to the foundries and build a dozen more flagships. This directness will slow some groups, but it will only spread the news of your effort, give away your position, and make things harder on you - and it will have the further drawback of polarizing the Empire's political machine against you, and by extension all Matari.
It could mean war. It could mean the gratest war we have ever seen, more death than any of us has the stomach for.
Can you accept the price you might have to pay, Admiral, for this effort? What if you fail utterly, and the Republic can never recover? What if it means the end of your clan, your tribe, your entire race? Is it truly necessary, Admiral, to put it all on the line?
The Tribe of Brutor can be great. We have seen their abilities, their strength of both body and spirit. But greatness need not be unsubtle in the face of an enemy whose back will not be broken, and the Empire is not so brittle as it may seem. Malaetu Shakor fought as you have fought and recognized this, and was the greater man for it. Why invalidate his efforts with needless anger when it accomplishes so little besides more death? Is death not terrible enough in itself, that we should seek to cause more of it? Is revenge so preferable to the true and lasting victory that comes with building a nation, with securing its borders and creating a place for your people to live unmolested?
Truly, this is the easy way out. Any man may declare vengeance his master and worship destruction as a god, but so few can create.

Lo did they head into the blizzard, the sky scorched and the ground shaken, but greater than the fires of their old homes and sacred places, the fires in their hearts raged within. Lo do I see my brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers who await me. The darkness fallen, peirced and beaten by the fires of Matar. The forgotten shall rise renewed and unto a new dawn will Matar's embrace welcome ye brave who venture into the night.
Welcome brother! In the darkness may you be a beacon for our lost souls. Guide us back to the light of Matar. There when we have done enough will the Great Halls welcome us and a seat at our father & mothers table await you. Spirits protect you, heed their wisdom of the ages.
Welcome to the quest.

Captain Muritor The Electus Matari cannot condone your actions in taking Republic Fleet ships to pursue your own military agenda. Even so we understand your feelings and will stand to fill the holes in the ranks of the Fleet that the loss of the Alfhild, Magni and Modi leaves. And should you liberate any brethren of ours, they will have a safe home to return to.
Evidently your sentiments are shared by some at home and as such we would like to address those members of the Republic Parliament that still support an appeasement approach to the Amarr Empire:
Members of the Electus Matari cannot be the only ones who have seen scans of ships carrying slaves to and from Amarrian stations in our free space, like the Imperial Armaments stations in Teonusude for example.
If the owners of these stations cannot abide by the laws of the space in which they reside, it is time they were closed. The time of debating, procrastination and pretensions of ignorance is over; it is time to make a decision and stamp down, hard.
Then, maybe the next Karishal Muritor will not have to leave the Republic.

Good to see another reject the morass of administrative excuses. Immortal capsuleers crawling scared in their corner instead of making a stand for their ideals should be ashamed of themselves. Never before has the fight for freedom been so inexpensive. Most of the talk about "consequences" is highly hypocritical , unfortunately - thousands of lives are claimed inside and out of empires , without Concord caring at all.
