I use netscape 7.1.
When I use these pages a few things drive me crazy. Some days, not all days, every time I reply to a post, it jumps me back to the login section where I need to log back in (netscape knows my pwd so this is just a click on the okay button). then it takes me back to my post, I click done or whatever and again, it jumps me to the login. again and again. I don't know what I do to break the cycle, I think I just get lucky eventually.
Also, When I'm looking at a thread, I doesn't matter if I've read it before or if I've been reading for 20 minutes, the browser's animation indicates that it's still reading the page... forever!
Anyone know what's wrong with the forum that is causing this and could you send a bug report to the the webpage team? (I would do it but I don't know the cause or solution to the problem).

Enable cookies and make sure "Save password" is enabled. Then you should get logged in automatically.
You should also use Firefox 2.0 instead of that crappy browser. Its even in a real release now, no Release Candidate anymore.

Firefox 2, IE, Safari and Opera all have the problems as well. Guess what? Its not us, its the absolutely worthless forum software. -----

I'm sure that the people that coded the forums worked very hard at it.
That being said, there are infinitely reproducable bugs in the forums that needs to be adressed.
One is the signing in bug, where if you have cookies enabled and the box clicked to remember your password, having to log in again after hitting the "send" button on a post.
The other one is when you select "Send" and the forums return you to a blank typing area, effectively wiping out whatever work you've done.
Most of the time hitting the back button twice in rapid succession fixes that, but I always select all + copy before I hit the send button.
Another one is the infinitely buggy "select character as main" toggle, where you end up as whatever alt/main is first in the drop down list.
Anyhow, I've always thought these were nice, clean forums, and easy to read.
If they could narrow down these bugs and squish them, these forums would be just about perfect.
Well, unless they coded search parameters. (i.e. posts in last 90 days, posts from Developers, ec.)

I'm pretty sure it's related to server stress. I have the same problem as well sometimes, but it seems it only happens when the site is overvisited. .

I use Internet Explorer from Microsoft, it is a really great browser, very reliable and I have no problems with it a all, ever. I think more people should use it.
I just wish those that have nice graphical sigs would host them in places that dont take half a day to respond.

And the billion other features this forum is missing? I like the way it looks too, but we can start talking about how good a forum it is when it can match a vanilla phpBB install. ----------

Considering it needs google or eve files to eve provide a search function and the fact that it lacked even the most basic anti-spam protection i would say no... no they havent...

I second that. Just wipe and replace with PHPBB and the world will be a better place.
It works okay most of the time with Opera at home (still trashes my postings and drops me back to a previous screen once in a while), but with bl**dy IE at work and through a very sh**y proxy server with some timing issues of its own, these forums are a pain in the ***. --

I think its very old, isnt it? I couldnt actually find it on the mozilla website either now that I looked. Is it still being developed?

It's not actually being written by Mozilla, but it's based on the Mozilla Gecko layout engine (like Firefox and SeaMonkey).

Still having the hardest time finding the actual Netscape... why are they hiding it?
At a random guess, I tried netscape.com.
Imagine my surprise when it was there

The annoy login issue I've made 100% reproducable.
My ISP uses a transparent proxy (yea yea I know) which seems to crap off the auth system the myeve site uses, if I set it to use my ISP's proxy in connection settings, no issues.

Actuallly, you got that backwards, Mozilla is netscape based, when they discontinued Netscape and made the source public, some developers continued to develope and called their new version of Netscape, Mozilla. Firfox was another derivative although I'm not sure if it brached off Mozilla or Netscape.

Yeah these forums are great.
"Hey there's a cheap looking Selynne's PDU on escrow.. I wonder how much that might be worth? I'll check recent auctions...
Dammit! Eve-Search is down, guess I'll try the forum search function..
O noes! It doesn't search by individual forum...
Nevermind, the most recent posts about this module are likely to be on sell orders anyway, I'll just order the posts by date...
What's this? Ordering by date defaults to oldest posts first... and there's no way to switch the order...
Guess I'll have to go to the last page of posts... page 12... nope, page 24...
Ah there we are, oh, what's this... the last post appears to be from March...
Bah! I give up let the mod rot on escrow.... "

Edited by: Ray McCormack on 24/11/2006 14:11:17 Edited by: Ray McCormack on 24/11/2006 14:11:02 Well, I just decided to try Firefox 1.5.0.8, as I normally use Opera and have been having extensive issues lately. I got stuck in a login loop at first, but now everything seems to be working fine.
Edit : I had to submit this post twice, though. But at least it's not asking me to login everytime.
Edit 2 : Spoke too soon, I'm having the same issues again.
