I come back to the game after 6 months break and I find Eve space is empty. The Corp I was with has been disbanded and the members vanished, I fly though sector after sector and there are only a handful of people. 6 months ago Eve was buzzing with life. What happened?

Hard to say without details, but since Eve is a mmorpg, alliances break up or join and corps die and get born every day... Eve has more players now than 6 months ago. Actually its doubled its active online players in a year, from 15k to almost 30k. And it will be even more once people know Kali is on TQ. They will be coming back to Eve to try it out. :)

Fly to Jita, you can sometimes find 1 or 2 people there.

You should probably go buy a sarcasm detector
And it's usually >500, not 100-200.

Most likely.
Plenty of people around, just look at the map.

Jita is so empty it tries to keep you there for companionship! Just the other day it held onto me for over an hour as I undocked. I dare not say what unspeakable acts it did to me whilst the black curtain over the station door was draped around my ship!

Someday come Revelations I am going to make a couriour mission that has to be completed within an hour from Jita to a system beside it. And if it isn't complete then I take all your money, your childern and your wife. You may keep your mother, father and inlaws. --------------

I want to die quietly in my sleep just like my dear old grandma, and not screaming in terror like her passengers!! |

It's true - for about 2-3 seconds after server startup, anyway.

Eve is big, and things change. It sounds like your old corp was based in a slow area. It wouldn't be the first time that area had a recession because a corp folded. This is prolly what happened :
1) The corp broke up, and lots of people left the area 2) A already underpopulated area becomes even more so, producers are no longer getting the volume of sales they want, and they leave 3) There is less local demand for minerals, because of less production 4) Everyone moves to Jita
Want to see people again? Go to Jita, don't mind the line, you will get in at some point.
