You haven't yet checked out this persons info; he could be a 1 months noob or a 2 year veteran. So what DON'T you want him to be flying? I mean there's the obvious problems in this question; I mean if you may well rather see a blasterthron than a T2 small neutron blasterax with nos. So what scares you? Would you be scared by a thorax? Would it take maybe a battlecruiser to scare you? Are you able to take the ECM *****of the domi but not the sheer firepower of the megathron? Do ravens scare the crap out of you or do you think they're just mission running piles of crap? Or does a taranis scare the crap out of you when you're lumbering along in your big fat battleship raping noobs?

So I can either only assume that only the most elite veterans are replying to this, or people don't think they're going to get scrambled and therefore think they can get away, or everyone's far too arrogant, because at the moment all anyone's saying is 'I can break anyones tank except <1 or 2 ships> and nobody else can own me'.

Im a veteran (3+ years) but the reason for me to "fear" only the pilgrim (solo) is that as soon as i see an unknown/hostile in local i start accelrating my ship towards a safespot. That behavior gives me the advantage of choice if he actually starts looking for me and appears in the same belt i can decide to stay and fight or to run. The only ships that deny me that choice are the cov ops frigs and the force recons and of those only the pilgrim can actually kill me solo the others simply dont have the firepower to get through my (activ) tank. Its not arrogance from my side that i think i can get away but confidence. I don't like Nanophoons, but I pilot them sometimes myself. I don't like Vagabonds either, but they run away once you hit them. Thoraxes are nasty when I'm in smaller ships. Ruptures are nasty when I'm in cruisers, same with arty Cyclones. But honestly, I like flying Interceptors mostly, and I hate Crows because of the range of light missiles. 19km orbit with a 20km scrambler sucks. Combined with their ability to keep you at range and they are very effective. To fit artilley on a Claw or Stiletto is very difficult, and then the tracking sucks. So when I fly Interceptors, I just hope the next guy isn't in a Crow. Then again, I'm sure that same Crow pilot would hate it if I was flying a missile boat myself.

Sometimes this isn't neccesarry. I have recently been jumped by an Ishtar and an Astarte (different occasions, I'm NOT Uber you know :)), and on both accasions, I was in a torp Raven and with a bit of help from npcs / sentries was able to keep my ship in one piece (well only just), and in the case of the Astarte, blow him up (he was a bit slow on warp out, and the last volley popped him ) Oh and Arazus give me nightmares! Unlike BBs and variants, they will definateley stop me from locking. At least with ECM you have a chance (even if it is very small ) Akkarin <3 - Immy

Even if you think you can win, it's just an illusion, if you had any real chance he wouldn't be decloaked.

Mephistos Just-fun Distant Star Alliance	Posted - 2006.11.23 23:53:00 - [49] To be honest I don't think there's any ships that I just see and am instantly afraid of (now that said, certain pilots + certain ships I'll avoid; but those pilots are few and far between, and honestly after they blow me the hell up I can have a nice friendly chat with them :p). Most veteran pilots know how to avoid solo ganks easilly enough, as long as you're either fast enough to make a gate before the enemy can kill you, or are aligned to warp out before they can warp scramble you you're set. If you're warping somewhere and trying to avoid being ganked, warp to either 40, 60 or 80, for some odd reason most people following you will almost always warp in at 15 or 100 expecting to land right on you. Once you're in warp, you make a bookmark, warp back to it, and then you're safe. And as for those scary scary Recon cruisers, just fitting 1-2 ECCM on a cruiser or larger will generally let you win against them (although the Arazu can still be a pain, and the Pilgrim will usually kill you regardless of that). But it will make short work of the Caldari, Minmitar, and the Curse.

After being in 0.0 wars though I adopted a don't care attitude and figured the best option is just to lock and fire, throw everything at what ever is hostile, accept that losing ships happens and that you win some lose some. That said, after my encounter with a Pilgrim, Pilgrims make me crap my pants, at least most ships I feel like hmm, maybe there's a chance, but the Pilgrim strips away all traces of the illusion I could even get away let alone win. He stopped shooting me to pop all my drones then when back to murdering my ship, there was bits of Caracal everywhere. . Pirates stole my signature.

I fly 2 chars with cap ships (1 carrier, 1 dread), 1 char with interdictor, and 1 char with recon / command ships. So, it has to be a small fleet usually. A group (6 or more) of Rage Torp Ravens could be a problem, as could several short-range fitted dreads. But even these problems I have emergency backup plans for. Currently, the thing I fear most are large fleets and lag. And bubbles aren't terribly fun either. Discoverer of the Missile Damage Formula

Its not arrogant. But because its not the question about 0.0, but lowsec i have sentrys on my side. So not many ships can put a tank able to tank the sentrys AND some ECM. Iam only scared about ECM, because if you cant shoot back and you cant tank, you will die sooner or later. As said not many ships are capable of this. Tempest and Vindicator are. Iam not sure about Pilgrim. But if he can sustain his tank against Sentrys and have ECM fitted, then ok. If the ship doesnt have ECM, i will rip him a new one with my 1200 DPS. He jumped in, scrammed me just as I hit warp speed. I closed the range not realising that beams suck at close range...much less Heavy Beam I's. I launched 3 acolyte Is, he launced 5 hobgoblin IIs in reciprocation. I got halfway through his shields, he pwned me. Also a friend sneaking in on me after finding me with a locator agent in his curse. He decloaked 5km from me and made me spam warp, I actually broke my mouse (stupid Gateway mouse). :P Now I have a logitech g5 mouse :P.
