They contribute to ALODs as well. Without all of that shiny faction/deadspace/officer* gear, you'd have far fewer ALODs. I'm including all combat-bears here, not just mission runners. It's a small percentage of them that are successfully baited or end up as gank targets. On the whole they're a terribly non-contributing group.
