I've recently come back to the game and notice there's now a significant increase in the powergrid costs for equipping this.
Are people still using this on Blackbirds as im not able to run it any more? If not, is there a viable low slot tank alternative as a replacement that ECM pilots would advise using now instead?
I'm guessing this is more suited for bigger ships now.

wait a minute, what it was before? according to the stats it's even got lowered.

Checked if the Blackbird lost any powergrid since you last played? Also did you use any reactor control units or ancillary current routers to increase the powergrid?
Are you on your old character with fitting skills trained is also a factor. If not you'll barely have room for the 1600 itself.
Here's a few 1600 and 800mm plated kills I found on Blackbirds from zkillboard. Some of them run ABs, some MWDs. I can't comment on how good any of the fits are since I haven't flown a Blackbird in ages, but should perhaps give you an idea of how people use them. All the losses below are just from the last couple days or less so might be more flavour to plated of course. Was some non-plated I didn't include due to relevance.

I assume then its probably just the skill points assignment i have then, as when i came back i had a substantial amount of skill points i was able to spend. Perhaps i should have spent them differently.
The thing that made me think the power requirements had been changed is that i have 630 on my power grid but i need 480 for the armor and it was the only slot i couldnt turn online.

you dont need this stuff
you will never be able to fit medium weapon on a 1600 blackbird (and it wasnt possible even before), w/o fitting mods.
if you really wanna fill those highs use the light missile launcher, the frigate ones, but it will still be a tight fit, and i repeat you dont need weapon or nos on a blackbird |

You are fitting a field extender rig but no shield tank. You could Switch that rig for an ancilary current router to try to get the plate to fit.
Or as the poster above me mentioned, downgrade the launchers to light launchers. |

Yeah thats what i did in the end, i downgraded the launchers so all sorted. Thanks to the helpful peeps for being helpful :) |
