Straight from eve-wiki Federate Issue Megathron is also an event-related ship, similar to the Imperial Issue Apocalypse. It was handed out in the Crielere Incident [9] to Doc Brown. Doc Brown kept the unique ship for a while, then later sold it to DigitalCommunist, who also held it for a long period of time.
More recently, Madcap Magician, the CEO of DigitalCommunist's corporation, plotted and eventually stole the ship and subsequently kicked DigitalCommunist from the corporation.
Madcap sold it to Entity, a famous collector of rare EVE items. It is still in the possession of Entity.

I dont think you can put a price tag on this ship tbh. Besides havent you been reading the posts, there are only 1 or 2 ingame! And the owners wont part with it at any cost.

I'd really like to know how this happened. Did DC let the guy borrow it or what? Personally, such a thing would never leave my personal hangar unless I decided to fly it.

How he did is kinda irrelevant, it really hurt DC, and Madcap got himself a nice price.
Oh and there's 0 chance Entity will ever for any price let go of this ship. Or be stupid enough to let someone steal it.

DC must have had a really bad day that day. He didn't just lose his Fedathron.
Anyway, Entity, have you seen the new stats for this boat post-Kali? 8-5-8 layout and enough fittings for full neutron with full tank. Oh, and it moves like a typhoon.

Having been in Finite Horizon at the time and since I was the one that made most of the post on the EVE history wiki about what happened, I can tell you it is true.
There is slightly more to it in terms of heresay, that I have no proof about, but let it be said that DigitalCommunist lent the ship to Madcap Magician, his long term real life friend, and Madcap kept it and some Tech II bpo's. He subsequently gave the ship to Entity, in exchange for a Silver Magnate, another rare EVE ship, and some officer mods.
When DigitalCommunist acquired the Federate Issue he spent in excess of 16 billion isk to buy it from the pilot who podded the Guristas leader, Fatal, at the Crielere event back in 2004.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

You can't buy stuff like that. It's not just a Megathron, it's not just a bunch of data and a fancy paintjob, it has a dramatic history behind it...or at least the one that was stolen. Whoever owns it now would be a fool to get rid of it and I personally would never let them live it down. X)

I've seen Doc Brown move it to Empire through Derelik, and being the newbie that I was at the time complimented him on its colour, forgetting to take a screenshot.

I think I could sell that SCREENSHOT for ISK.

And lose it to the first encounter with a thanatos, or a blob? mmmm.. tough...
I got this ship to prevent it from going the way of the Gold Magnate, and going out losing this ship (which I waited 2 years for) would pretty much go against what I have been doing for the past 3.5 years (collecting 1 of every item). So, you won't see me taking it into situations where I can lose it due things beyond my control.

True, I know what you mean about the collecting everything, and getting ganked in unforeseen circumstances and all.
Even so, I'd rather be remembed (like Tyrrax) for losing a one-off ship than to be famous as the guy with Eve's most expensive paperweight.

True.
I'd certainly fly it... that thing can fit Neutron II's and a full core-X dual rep tank according to Quickfit. Yeah you'd get ganked but you'd put up a hell of a fight doing it i'd hope.
