Is it just me or are there several skills in that list that I don't recognize and have never heard of before?

Hehe.. I think druing amargeddon, I was drooling at the skills instead of flying that new battleship I bought.
I didn't even think to take a screen shot.. lol..
Anywho.. Now all we need is an explanation of what some of those are for. I wonder if anyone bothered to make a list?

if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. My hand made mannequin. i won't let them get you. they'll know you're mine by the fingerprints on your throat. isn't she lovely? isn't she wonderful? like the *****s that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design. |

Most of them are self-explanitory. More than a few are in game, however, they are not on the market (may be loot from rats or perhaps in real remote regions).
I'll start from top left and work my way down:
Spaceship Command (25): - Jove xxxx > Allows you to fly Jovian ships. - Polaris > (guessing) Allows you to fly Polaris ships
Social (8) : - Connections > Modifies NPC buy/sell prices - Criminal Connections > Modifies Black Market prices - Diplomacy > Increases standing with NPCs - Espionage > (guess) Increases standing with corps further? Perhaps increases info shown about corps? - Fast Talk > Price modifier - Media > ??? no clue ?? - Negotiation > Price modifier
Drones (7): - Heavy Drone Op > Increases number of 'heavy' drones that can be controlled (think small frigates) - Repair Drone Op > Increases number of drones that can be controlled for repairing others (stations, ships, turrets, etc) - Salvage Dron Op > Increases the number of drones that can be used to salvage abandoned structures.
Gunnery (19): - Armor Piercing > Allows use of AP weapons, +5% to ??? (damage output or chance of piercing) - Shield Piercing > Allows use of SP weapons, +5% to ??? (damage output or chance of piercing)
(I'll do more later. I have more notes at home... most of the Science is self-explanitory, although my understanding is RE skill is not needed anymore)

Anybody else notice that armor piercing, shield piercing and surgical strike were not at level 5?

Heavy Drone operation is in-game and for sale in school stations .. it allows you to use heavy drones (they can occasionally be found inpirate loot - they are equivalent to a small frigate IE 100 shield, 250 armour, 300 speed, 12 weapon damage, with a fairly fast reload) the skill increases drone damage by 5% per level . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

I'm was wondering about the salvage drone skill. I see no other method of salvage either in equipment or personal skill and wanted to know if salvage drones are the only way to salvage somthing.
I have not seen any salvage drones out there yet. It salvage just not implemented yet?

That's very interesting. I remember from beta 3 there was a skill copying skill. I wonder what happened to it.

Mnemonics is the skill you are talking about. You can still get it at character creation, but it hasn't been fully implmented, so you can't do anything with it until all the science skills get fully implmented and put in the game.

It seems like there was some serious oversite when they implemented Frigate Constructions and other ship constructions skills. Why didn't they make the ship construction skills prerequisites for actually making ships of those types? This is a skill based game, why not require skills to do more things than fly ships and use weapons. To extend this idea the levels of ship construction skills could have had meaning too. For example to make a Stabber, which requires cruiser level 2 to fly, you would need cruiser contruction 2 and to make a Rupture, which requires cruiser level 3 to fly, you would need cruiser construction 3. Instead any character with Industry 1 can pop a Cruiser in the oven, how does that make sense? This would be more in line with how weapon skills work, e.g. you need small projectile turret 3 to learn medium projectile turret.
Generally speaking the game is inconsistent about requiring skills and skill levels to use some equipment, e.g. ships and weapons, while other equipment like the propulsion disruption gear require only a skill at level 1 to use all warp disruption equipment (webifiers, jammers) I've seen so far.

I like your idea, to an extent. I don't want to have to learn how to use Large projectile weapons, just in order to make a weapon, let alone the ammo for it. I would like to see that applied to ships though. It's probably too late though
