Edited by: Jerusalem Man on 26/11/2006 14:22:13 Since gangs are being fixed, is the system that makes gang members sitting targets of warring corps in high sec space being looked at. While the 'Lofty' tactic is avoidable the biggest effect I have noticed is the lack of adhoc gangs and yes this mainly affects people running missions or doing Cosmos areas. I find myself ignoring requests for help because its just not worth the effort of checking out the character and in the end someone still has to leave themselves open to ganking with the current system. This bugs me because it was a 'multiplayer/social' aspect of the game I enjoyed before the gang system was changed in a previous patch.
The original purpose of the change was to stop pilots fighting a war target being aided ie remote armour/shield repping, by a pilot not involved in the war but who was in their gang. I'm not sure what happens when a pilot fights a war target and is aided by a person who is not involved in the war and they isn't in a gang with the pilot.
In Revelations generic gangs will get no leadership bonuses so a person at war can't be 'passively' assisted. What should happen now whether the supporting pilot is in a gang or not is that they should be flagged if they aid a pilot at war. They shouldn't be a disadvantage because are sharing bounty and a 'warp to' function.
If generic gangs are to have any use at all the war target 'fish in a barrel' option needs to be removed. As per the patch notes which flags a pilot aiding a criminal as a criminal, pilots should only be able to attack war targets and pilots who aid a war target, not attack pilots in high sec space using a flaw in the game mechanics.
Build 27121 to 27756 addresses REVELATIONS Patch Notes, Features, Fixes and Improvements Miscellaneous .... * Pilots aiding other criminally flagged pilots now become criminally flagged themselves.

Very good points.
I think that when a gang is just a gang such matters should be as the old adhoc gang system was. If a gang is changed to a fleet, where leadership bonuses will start getting applied, then the current war dec vulnerability would apply.
Still there is one simple problem that is still present and that is who gets to invite and the trusts involved. Right now the problem is that the gang leader can invite someone that creates the vulnerability after you join.
Should not the gang system give gang mates the immediate choice to "quit gang" if a war dec target is invited? While it may be a pain in the neck to have the pop ups crop up it will remove the initial point of the problem entirely.
Protagonist must have an Antagonist. Otherwise he's just a guy playing with himself.

The things you find during down time The criminal flagging system from the knowledge base.
Quote: Finally, if a character aids a member of corporation A, who are at war with corporation B, the character will be criminally flagged towards corporation B.
So as we can't passively assist a player with leadership skills in a basic gang the following should be removed from the basic gang as it serves no function:
Quote: When a character joins a gang where a pilot is member of a corporation A that is at war with corporation B, the character in the gang is considered to be aiding those corporation A, and may be freely attacked by the opposing corporation B. Note that the character is not a part of the war per-se, as the character can not freely attack members of corporation B, but the character can be attacked by members of corporation B without consequence.
OK so I've said it twice but think of all the space it will save in the General Discussion forum :-)
Note: would need a pop-up option to drop from the gang if it was promoted to a fleet.
