Daichi Yamato wrote:Playing dirty is part of the game. A concord response for tipping the scales or messing with peoples duel/wardecs is not going to happen. Instead, why dont players learn to fight back? You really do not understand how things work in high sec do you. There are very few ways that you can shoot someone in high sec that will not trigger a Concord response. If they are -5 or below. If the corp you are in has a valid war dec against the corp your target is in. If your target has a criminal flag for any reason. That's it, in any other situation in high sec if you shoot someone Concord will respond and end your party with extreme prejudice.
In the act of extending and then a player accepting a dual they are agreeing to fight to the end between them and in doing so neither of them will gain a criminal flag for their actions in the dual. If you happen upon this dual in progress and want to "mess" with them then you are still bound by the limits above. If the player you choose to attack does not meet these criteria then you will get that Concord visit. And please take note that I am now and in this topic I always have limited my responses to the dueling mechanic and not PvP in general.
Why won't people just learn to fight back, why does it always come back to this? Those who want to fight can and do fight back, IF and there is the big IF they think they have a chance to win the fight,otherwise they are like every other PvP player I have ever seen and they turn tail and run away if the can.
For the rest of the players all I can do is shake my head in total disbelief. Why would they want to get into a fight with you when they know they have NO chance of success? Since they do not want to fight you in the first place why would they dock up, change ships and then un-dock again when they can simply log off and be done with the likes of you for the moment? |

Duels/wardecs.
No you do not get a guaranteed fair fight. Welcome to eve.
@Donna
On fighting back- This is a game where might makes right. Its not a bad thing that a bigger and better group of players get to push their weight around. Thats in fact the point. And no matter who you are, there are bigger and better groups than you and everyone has to yield sometimes. If you want more clout, then make more friends and become more experienced with the game. I dont see what's wrong with that.
On duelling and concord- The op is not asking for a concord response if someone shoots a player in a high sec duel. Hes trying to make logi and boost interference a criminal offense. To which the answer is:
No you do not get a guaranteed fair fight. Welcome to eve.

No thanks, forcing eve into controlled pvp can only make it less interesting.

I dont see what's wrong with that. When and where did I ever say that it should not be this way? Might makes right is indeed a fact of life in this game, but we are not talking about might makes right, my comment was in response to your statement that they should learn to fight back. Why does it always come back to that? If a player does not want to fight and they are willing to pay their subscription fee and deal with the limitations of their play style why does that matter to you?
Setting all of that aside the OP was not about might makes right, it was about setting up a planetary system where players could go and be assured of a 1 v 1 fight. Since this system would be optional and you as a player would have to CHOOSE to go there and be a part of those activities I see no way that this could ruin the game, and I see no way that it would eliminate your ability to interfere in the affairs of others. If you want to interfere in others affairs then simply stay out of that system and you can interfere all you want. |

Not good enough.
Youre assuming im going about my daily business and then interfering with random players that i encounter. But what if im after a certain player, i intend to interfere with his game, and he goes to one of these bear-duel systems? At that point i have no ability to interfere in his affairs and my game is ruined.
What if i want to dupe this player into an unfair fight, and he says he'll only fight in these bear-duel systems. At that point my game is ruined.
There is already a place where players can go and be assured a 1v1 fight. SiSi. Its optional and players can CHOOSE to go there and be part of those activities.

It's an old lie and one that has data firmly against it. OK I have to call BS on this as my kids say. The dev blog posted relative to this clearly stated that the evidence collect indicated that ganking (non-consensual PvP) was not a factor in new player retention. There is a significant difference between indicated and stated as fact. Before you jump all over me about this little nit pick, I personally do not consider gankings (non-consensual PvP) as a factor in new player retention, other than some wide spread cases I have witnessed but hey there will always be some of that. Was not a factor. So what about my post was BS exactly?
