It's been nice watching the development of Kali into a fully fronted expansion named Revelations over the last few months, the first content patch of which will hit us in under 24 hours.
It's also been interesting to sit back and watch the forums and see many views and opinions expressed, some in a civil manner, others sadly not.
I think many will agree with me that some of the stuff posted regarding members of the Dev team, and other members of the community has been bang out of order, although the majority of it has still been taken in good humour, or with a pinch of salt, as we say in England.
Hours of number crunching, fiddling with statistics and layouts, texture and ship modelling have paid off and Eve is now on the verge of it's most groundbreaking expansion to date.
I've been on SiSi testing, doing a lot of research into ships and how they will fair given all the new changes and updated to the game, and it's PvP mechanics. I can safely say there isn't a single ship out there that is "dead in the water" so to speak, in terms of it's ability to put up a decent fight.
For those of you who haven't had the chance to get on SiSi to do some testing, I have made a pictorial representation of how Revelations seems to be evolving, from my point of view. You can find it here.
Personally, I feel that ships and modules have been balanced the way CCP see fit, they play "God" in Eve, and despite my attempts at making a humerous analysis of the patch to come I'll do what every sucessful species on earth has done over the last few billion years; Guage my environment when it changes, and adapt to suit it and make my life easier.
So, my question(s) to the community are :
How have you coped with the ever changing landscape that is the balancing of Kali over the last month or so, and what are your thoughts on how things will evolve until the next stage of the deployment is put in front of us?
How Will You Adapt?
Finally, good luck to CCP with the Deployment of Revelations I, in my eyes a lot of hard work has gone into the development of new content that will bring a whole new set of challenges to the older players in Eve, as well as the start of the overhaul to the New Player Experience which gives the younger players a good foothold in the community.
BTW... I have Murphy locked up in my basement, starved on a diet of dead Fedos and reconstituted protein delicacies. There better be a Hyperion in my hangar when I log back in after the patch goes live... or I'll let him out

That graph is priceless.
In terms of how I've coped with the changing landscape, well I suppose I've embraced the changes as positive. Every time we get an expansion, both major or minor, we're treated to a bunch of new things and places to explore and play with. It's a rare thing to say that after over what, three years of playing this game, that there's still things I haven't done or seen.
Disregarding new content for a moment, there's always the ever-changing landscape of player tactics. People are always finding new and wacky ways to fit their ships, camp gates, wage war, etc. That aspect of the game far surpasses what any expansion could bring, in my opinion.
So I look forward to Revelations, to checking out the new ships and tools, sitting back and pondering what interesting ways they can be used.
Good luck with the expansion, CCP. It's been a looooooong time coming, and I'm sure you're as anxious to see what the players do with the new toys as we are.

I've played for over two years and this will be the fourth major content update I have seen. Every expansion has added things that, in retrospect, I can't believe the game functioned without, like starbases, capital ships, and freighters. Revelations will be exactly the same - in 3 months we won't know how we lived without salvaging, rigs, the new ships, and warp to 0. _________________________________________________________

That graph is very accurate.
I will most likely adapt by training up Gallente to be honest. We'll see. But I think the importance of having extreme dps only got even more important in Kali. Im very excited about seeing Kali on TQ though, it will be lots of fun. :)

For a real answer, I'm going to adapt by making use of rigs, invention and salvaging. I have about 60 ships all of which are setup to do specific jobs. Rigs will only further help them to do those jobs. I'm a solid industrialist and researcher whose only T2 lottery luck since I started before Exodus was a T2 Piranha Fury BPO, so invention is looking to be a nice way of making a few bits and bobs for my people as and when they might be needed.

That Minmatar graph makes my eyes water. WTB time machine (if only to follow the graph).
Adapt, hmm.
Step 1: Delete all Insta BMs. Step 2: Skill Amarr BS 3. It'll make a terrific mining ship. Step 3: Uh, try the new character creation. Might As well Train Another Race Step 4: Recover from the shock and go back to doing what I chose to do in the first place anyway. --

I choose to be who I am and do what I do because that is who I want to be and what I want to do. Changes to the gameplay will have a negligible effect on how I spend my time in EVE.
That said, my 1600mm plated Light Neutron Blasterax (i.e. huge HP, oceans of CPU&PG) welcome the HP boost and rigs.
And the new map looks cool. ----------

Considering the amount of new goodness coming in the new patch I am honestly surprised CCP have managed it in the timescales they have. I honestly appluade them on the gusto that it's taken to get it out by tommorow.
As always with each and every patch since release I will adapt and overcome. My playstyle has not really been altered with each patch, this may change things slightly for me but I'm glad the changes are coming, I can see a lot of new stuff on the horizon that is possible after the Revalations patch.
I must admit I'm a little behind havign hardly had chance to get onto Sisi in the past month never mind onto TQ itself, so the new number crunching will have to come about for me pretty quickly.. hmm maybe I should have a holiday and try put some tie in

Man, I wish I had the graph skills you do, its pure genius.
BTW, I always wanted to say how Pimp that Sig is, that cat could easily be strutting down the street on Santa Monica Blvd in 1972 style pwning evweryone else.
Oh and I sorta hate your yarrr guts too, however this is greatly mitigated now by your above mentioned graph skills and admirable forum foo.
On topic, I am ready to train the advanced skills a couple points each, looking foreward to it in fact. I have been avoiding the Basic Learnings 5 like the plague, now I can get a few abilities up without excessive pain.
Being a generalist (I like to be able to do whatever, whenever when the mood strikes me) I am not really in a position right now to do any Salvaging or Exploration but I intend to slowly work that way, possibly hanging on the coattails of friends who are gonna get into it seriously. |

I do what I always do: avoid having to cope with changes by ignoring the stats untill I see patch notes saying they are definitive.
As far as I'm concerned the Drake (which ill be flying no doubt) never got nerfed since it never existed before the patch notes for example.
As for new features, those I browse to see if they make sense to me, and wether or not they deliver what CCP said they wanted to deliver. I'm seldomly not dissapointed by them, so that's not really much of an issue either tbh.
As for groundbreaking, Kali may bring alot of new stuff, but way too mnay is an excuse rather then a feature for me to be anything approaching happy with it tbh. Props for the contract system CCP, that's about as positive as i can be regarding this patch.

Awesome graph.
Overall i like Revelations to be honest, there's a few rough spots but all in all it looks good.
Adapting... I'll probably go back to training Minmatar, i find them the most fun. Then i'll also buy a Drake to get some money with to sustain the good ol' Freedom fight. So i suppose all in all not much difference.
Perhaps train up that dreaded ECM i hate so much finally. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Might As well Train Another Race
