I know you're a new player, and taking losses like this to people like that is difficult early on. I'm sorry that you have a bad taste in your mouth from the userbase that you have encountered thus far in the world of Eve. I can only say that in my experience, Eve has the most intelligent and helpful userbase of any game I have ever played.
Don't worry about the petition. Eve is rated "T" for Teen. That means that the term "moron," while it might have hurt the pirate's feelings, is not a petitionable term. Foul language, however, is not welcomed. It doesn't appear that happened here so I wouldn't worry about it.
Pirates are a part of the game. Keep in mind, though, that the vast majority of us pirates are congenial and even helpful to new players. Most pirates worth their pods won't pod a newb player flying in a capsule. The sec hit isn't worth it for a player that doesn't likely have any implants, and we'd likely ransom first -- but again, not someone so young.
Eve is a vast universe filled with many characters. Some of them are jerks, but keep in mind that the person's behavior who you had a run-in with is not indicative of the rest of us who PvP other players. For instance -- had it been me, I would have checked your employment history and not bothered engaging... in a belt or at a gate. There's a learning curve to all aspects of Eve, and piracy is one of those. Some pirates are unfortunately like the gent you met and spoke of here. However, the vast majority of us are not like that and even try to be helpful. Don't let one experience with a jerk ruin your whole experience in the game.

Erm... really? Is that REALLY where you stand on that LB? We're talking about a new player here who is just learning about the Eve universe. I'd expect something a little more thoughtful -- especially out of you. Disappointing.

Also it might be good if you roleplay a bit, so if a pirate blows up your ship and you want to insult his mother, father dead granny its best to stick amarian/minmatar/gallente/caldarian at the beginning of the sentence.

He sounds self righteous and annoying. If it was 'playful banter' or friendly chat I would agree with him. But he sounds irritating.
Note that he has edited his OP to basic details now. Hardly indicative of his 'I'm a hard done by new player' stance.

Edit for spelling. Apparently 'basical' isn't a word. _ _ _

Lanfear's Bane.
Hmm. When one thinks of Eve, it has a reputation of not being friendly to the newer player(s), and it community doesn't not rate high with those who prefer a "care bear" stance.
When I read these forums, people moan and groan about players staying in Empire (or whatever it's called) and complain that people are "care bear"ish.
I am only here because of revelations - if it sucks (and CCP couldn't have picked a worse day, Blizzard is releasing a game changing patch on the same day) I am going back to WoW.
But you know what - in WoW I can call people morons. Most laugh it off and come back with a retort that I generally find amusing while providing a chuckle.
Point is - if you can't gate camp a POD (October Snow) then you should probally rethink the role you play in the game.
I can take my losses, with grace. But if you jut suck at it - expect a retort.
My spelling sucks - typing in the dark; but my edit from the original post is foudn here.
If eve wants more players (and I assume CCP does based on the patch) the cheap shots have to stop. When I say that - I mean on the player level.

No - that's apparently what you think of when YOU think of Eve. People who have stuck around for a while know that while there are some bad apples, the user community is as a whole VERY helpful and welcoming to new players.
Originally by: Ash 'Nerov

Again, you're generalizing here, and what you probably mean is that they "moan and groan" about players being in low-sec. This is mainly done by pirates who lack the patience to wait for worthwhile targets in my humble opinion.

Feel free to call me a moron in game all you want. In turn, I will feel free to say something funny in return. You're basically saying that WoW players are better than Eve players. I can't speak to that since I've never played WoW. My sisters do play that game though, and from what I've gleaned of it there's not a whole lot of thought involved in it so it's not for me.
We get a lot of "I'm going back to WoW" types once they realize that they can't win Eve in 15 minutes. I hope you're not one of those types.

I'm sorry, but I don't see it that way. I was really cool with you for a bit here, but then you started with the whole "I'm going back to WoW" bit. PROTIP: If you want to go back to WoW, go, but don't hold it over CCP's head and expect them to care that you're leaving because you're not willing to invest the time in the game that it takes to be proficient.
I guess that's all I have to say on the matter. I feel bad for even trying to help. I fear LB was right after all.

Sounds to me like "banter" between friends, rather than an insult directed at another person. You can be reported and punished for insulting people in WoW as well. I don't stand for people insulting me, whatever game I play, and I will gleefully write a GM ticket if someone is stupid enough to resort to such behaviour.
Its not that I can't take an insult, its just that in the gaming environment I don't have to.
Originally by: Ash 'Nerov Point is - if you can't gate camp a POD (October Snow) then you should probally rethink the role you play in the game.
Whether a person can or can't camp a pod does not mean someone is justified in insulting another player.
Originally by: Ash 'Nerov I can take my losses, with grace. But if you jut suck at it - expect a retort.
In return, expect to be petitioned. Just because someone supposedly "sucks" at a game does not mean you are free to insult them.

To be honest I hope the GM told him where to go. If all the OP did was call him a moron its hardly worth wasting a GM's time on something like this.
Maybe if he had sworn or threatened him fair enough, but being called a moron is hardly petetion worthy.

He called the pirate a moron because said pirate failed to gate camp his pod. I would infer from this that he lost his ship to said pirate (or at least "a" pirate) and then chose to engage in some insulting to soothe his ego following his loss.

Well, this statement is contradicting - first you accusse me of being better thatn you for playing wow (don't see where I typed that) then you finish it off by implying you are better than me for playing Eve.
Point is, I don't care. In PvP - there is thension, "smacktalk" and what have you -don't be a wuss about it and report it. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen applies here.

Sure, I will go back to WoW. It's bang for the buck - eve has never provided me with that - why do I want to spend months doing nothing (spenidn Money as well) when I could get another game and jump right in. Myabe if CCP implemented a web interface so I could change / start skill traing from my browswer - they maybe. I don't have time nor the interest to do the same Agent mission over and over and over and over and over nad over and over and over to get to a point where I am "worthy" of a corp, or hell - comparable to other players

Ok, so you lost your ship to NPC rats and decided to make yourself feel better by insulting the pirate who failed to catch you in your pod.
My question is? Were you using instas to travel or did this guy actually fail to camp you while you were slowboating to a gate in your pod?
Now I'm not still not justifying your use of language (because there is no justification), I'm just trying to see how much of a basis there was for your actions.
