Yes - subject to them being run on the championship rules - no podding - and only light missiles.

I saw this other post about setting up a complete arena where fights could be hold and where people could bet on the outcome. That was talking about 1 vs 1 frigates/cruisers/BS but I am sure that more would be possible.
Of course this should be supported by ccp to make it work.
Else you always will get some pirate scum fecking up the battle ------------------------------ Audiofreaks ------------------------------ |

"Yes" of course! ... and Jericho will be happy to stick the first 10m or so in the prize fund to get the pot boiling.
Needs a fairly decent 0.0 loc that can be blocked off by "bouncers" in battleships and a degree of trust in the integrity of the participants and organisers. But I can see it working.
And we can cetainly chase some big name sponsors.

Ok, ill set it up, Give me a few days and I'll nail down some rules. Thanks for the responses thus far.
BTW, I'll arrange fixtures at different locations - so gonks don't turn up to ruin it. It'll be fine. I'm also going to organise an independent ref - might ask if someone in polaris or a GM might be avaiable to do that. Will keep you all posted.
My advice - start getting your teams together people! -------------------------------------------- Dead

Small suggestion: Would be good to use Eve-Radio and Eve Guadian to cover the events, maybe even get corporations to use paid advertisements on Eve-radio to cover prize money. Even use a corp to handle betting on all the teams. Just like the idea of getting as many people involved as possible. Also like the idea of a league where its not just a one off contest.
Just a suggestion

Edited by: Morkt Drak on 14/11/2003 17:50:45 Sorry "No"...
the likelyhood of being podded is too high and that invalidates the risk being worthwhile (expensive metal bits in my head ya see).

Oh - but im sure we can find something appropriate to give as prizes...
ya might want to try EVE Guardian also as they sponsor events with isk and coverage.

:/ I think if it was kept within the Amarr championships regulations then the chance of getting podkilled would be much reduced.... still, can see why the hesitance about possibly losing those rare edition implants ;s

I would love to participate. But not if its in Venal. And there would have to be ref's there that are neutral thinking to all players.

I would love to participate also Miso.
I agree with drunken on this, how can we enforce a no podding rule? Nothing but light, fof light, defenders, and mines would probably help though.
Also the location im guessing would be in "unclaimed" and undiscolsed 0.0 locations. Different locations each tourney. Setup with bookmarks to the middle of nowhere, and only the teams and ref have a copy of the bm to prevent harrasment. Maybe set each teams bm 30 KM away from each other, or just outside light missle range, i dunno. Or perhaps have different formats for different matchups.
It would be nice though if we stressed the OOC aspect of it. Maybe go as far as naming the event "No Baggage Frig Tourney" or something.

Yes! Miso I back you up on this idea. Let me know if you need any help in this.
We could setup something similar to the championships.
"The human species suffers from a dimensional limitation. They are not able to understand that matter and mind are just one aspect of something more fundamental. We must strive to expand our perspective so we can see what our true reality is." Deep toughts by Mr.Pops, while consuming large quantities of Blue Pill and staring at the EVE gate in Genesis.

I dunno, I think even war enemies should be able to agree to the neutrality of a frigate fighting league. And it would be shame (and kinda impossible) to ring fence an area of play off from the rest.
Speaking personally I'd have no probs with respecting the neutrality of the competition regardless of who would be competing ... no exceptions.
Even if it was me vs Naryan Diesal of Biomass (for example) a frigate fighting league for sport is sport, and somethiing to give us a distraction and area of relaxation away from the hard core war games fought elsewhere.
I'd hope we could all make an adult decision to respect such concepts.

Miso, some organization suggestions...Take the event to a 0.0 system that noone knows about close to empire space. Get a bookmark somewhere in dead space. Get a ref to go to the bookmark. Have all people who want to participate/observe gather around the gang leader...Gang only shuttles and frigs. Have 2 BS bouncers at the bookmark...There is no way anyone can mess it up then.
