can i have all the skillpoints i put into commandships/leadership and warfare skills back pls?
i have no desire at all to be gangleader in every gang im in and i trained all those skills to be a support for the gang not the leader for the gang.
tbh the "gangleaders bonus is the only that counts" gotta go or let us respec the skillpoints.
alot of us has put in 6months or more just to be able to support the gang not lead it.

Edited by: Patch86 on 27/11/2006 22:28:08 Firstly, they are called "LEADERSHIP skills". I always thought it was stupid that the person with mad leadership skills could be afk at a safe spot (or at the very least not doing any leading).
Secondly, they're planning of putting in an option for group leaders to nominate a non-leader member to be the one who gives the gang bonuses instead of them. I don't think it was for Kali 1 though.
EDIT:
Originally by: Tomb Please reconsider...
We have been considering to allow Squad Commanders to assign a member to gang boosting for the specific Squadron. But we are unable to squeeze it into Revelations because of technical issues, which could take many weeks to fix. So Kali2 but hopefully sooner.
From here. -----------------------------------------------

Sorry Patch86, but considering is not the same as it will happen....
I am one of those ppl that has no will, nor the knowledge to lead big groups, aka my command ship 5, warfare spec at 5 is of no use when Kali hits, feels great to have spent several months for something I can not use now and maybe never.
Well that's life, however I am not sure when I'll log on next time except for swapping skill training (aka spending 6 months more for no use?!?)

Ah yes, the base skill is called a leadership skill so the idea must obviously be for the leader only to train them.
But wait....... the modules them self are called "gang Assist" modules and the Fleet Command ships require the skill "Logistics" to fly them. Suddenly I'm all confused!
But, there is light at the end of the tunnel! People just need to stop being ********s over the semantics of various skill names and realise that this is a massive change to how gang assist modules (whoops better not use a semantics argument there) work.
Changing the goalposts for people who have put such a huge skillpoint investment is unacceptable. To turn round and "possibly give you the ability to affect 10 people max without leading" is an insult.

as it is now the skills is a waste.
and we all know how long a "soonÖ" at CCP is. dont count on it working in less then a year.
how hard could it have been to make it work on the highest gangskills in the squad/gang to work as it used to.
and no im not known for sitting at a safespot with my commandships.
and adding another function for the gangleaders to do is just going to make ppl even more less likely to want to be gangleaders. adding more and more workload to gangleaders isnt the solution either.
i still want my 6months+ of skills trained back so i can put it into something that i will use atleast.
or why not let all 2year old characters do a 10 skill respec.

a such a fundamental change that changes the use of 6months worth of skills should have been announced atleast 6months in advance imho.

Note that I am not TomB, I am just reading what he posted and quoting it. So:
Originally by: TomB Server Improvements
Big gangs were causing a whole lot of CPU spikes on our server and often causing node deaths. The reason was the gang boosting and recalculations taking place every time a new member came into the scene with skills or activating a gang boosting module.
Like I said, TomB says that they plan on putting it in as a feature by Kali 2 if not sooner. Not an awful lot more to say than that. -----------------------------------------------

Sorry Patch86, he still says they are considering, not planning to (read your own first post and the quote from TomB).

Considering that TomB mentioned technical issues and how they'd take weeks to fix, it looks to me like it's quite possible the devs have tested it in some way.

Indeed, but I think thats just semantics. This isn't the first place I've heard it, and it deffinatly does make sense (as this post does demonstrate, by the complaints that have been raised).
Its possible that they won't put it in, but its also possible that you might get struck down by a bus tomorrow. The best you can do is guess...........and I'm guessing they'll put it in. -----------------------------------------------

Unfortunately there is a lot more to say than that. What it says is that CCP have not actually sat down and considered how this new system affects the people who have trained the skills.
By far and away the best course of action would to be to have an assignable role from the Wing Commanders and Fleet Commanders in lieu of their skills affecting people.
Why this line of thought was only considered after an uproar and more importantly, why it is only being considered for the smallest group size (forcing Wing and Fleet Commanders to either use gang assist module capable ships or completely ignore them)? It smacks of no forethought being put in from the point of view of an actual pilot trained to use these.

True Malthros, however I am going with Xendie on that "soon" thing, we all know what soon means for CCP...
As said earlier, happy if the change ever comes, still sucks that they change the fundamentals this much without considering the fact that many ppl maybe do not want the role as a leader in gangs.

My big thing is, (though I was building ym character for this role from the start and will be in my new Fleet CMD ship VERY soon)it does ruin some concepts. like 1 now I need to train all of the leadership skills up. I say this as I trained all the (for my case) siege warfare skills up to 5 so as to make the most out of my Vulture, and thats fine but I dont have the other skills at 5 x2....thats what my friends did so I could focus more. So now my mixed race fleet will only be getting my super caldari focused bonus. There goes the idea of a group of 4 (1 from each race) fleet commands buffing every aspect of eachother up as well as the rest of there mixed team. Now I think we will find the 'squadrons' will be 1 for each race to get there optimal bonus. Not like I would like for full fleet ops, ie. the tackling squad, the artil. squad, the ECM squad. Nope now you might as well put all ammar tanks in one squad and caldari in another or start seeing a Apoc(example) with shield buffs only as he is in the heavy damage team lead by a Vulture.....Bet he will feel pleased. or maybe thats just me.
