I have looked at the stats of both of these and the only thing I can find that iPod has going for it as a reason for me to get it instead of the Vision W, is its "style" and "popularity" is that seriously the only difference? The Zen Vision W costs $30 more but comes with the AC adapter and AV cables so you already just saved money. Then its got a better looking bigger screen, FM radio, and you can record? I mean I was dead set on getting an iPod 5.5 gen 30gb and now I don't know what to do. I really need some help deciding before I go and buy one or the other. Is there something I don't know about that can be pointed out here? I want to make sure I pick the right one before christmas. Thanks.

Is there a benifit by joining the iPod community though? I mean when it comes to the hardwear the Zen Vision W wins. But is there something else I am missing? I just don't understand why a product that performs less sells more.

Mass marketing, peer pressure, the stupid general public, etc. are most likely why iPods are so popular. You gain nothing, other than "fitting in." I like my sig... ~~~Sig Stuffs Here~~~ I highly recommend drunken posting. Oh yeah, you just lost The Game |

Just a quick aside, $300+ for a 40 or 60 GB Ipod ? A little over $100 for a 1GB!?!1.
Holy crap ripoff.

After owning a Nomad Jukebox 3, let me say this: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE PURCHASE A CREATIVE PRODUCT COSTING MORE THAN $50
(seriously, a headphone jack: how hard is it to solder it down? and how do you have an entire SERIES of the things fail in the same way, and never recall the things?) --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Just to throw another option out there I would suggest an iAudio X5L with a set of Sennheiser PMX 50 headphones. The X5 doesn't do DRM/wma but its audio quality is the best your going to get in a portable mp3 player and it supports flac and ogg files. The UI is a little cumbersome but you can treat it as an external HD, so no need for itunes or any of that other propriatry software crap.
Also the lack of white headphones removes that big 'MUG ME' sign from your head
If you do go for an iPod I suggest you check out Rockbox
