alright, so i just got back to playing since 'revelations' came out, (or w/e you wanna call it) and i got a mission from my agent (level3, q:0).
the mission is called 'Stop the Thief'.
so anyway, it requires me to jump to next system, take out rats, retrieve an item, go back, and return the item...
reward: 50k credits, 67k more if im within X hours.. 90 LP..
so anyway, i go to the encounter area and start fighting the rats in my ferox, which has 13k+ shields, over 50% on resists, and a low recharge rate. when i warp in, i see about 10 (somewhere around there) npc cruisers all locking onto me at the same time.
by far the hardest level 3 mission ive gotten, and also by far the worst payment..
so is this a bug? did i miss something in revelations that took off the reward for missions? should i just goto .2 and kill bcs?

This is due to the fact that the mission is in fact new mission, thus it hasn't been run enough to get reward balanced. Mission reward are calculated automatically based on average amount of time required to finish the mission. So you are one of the first fuys who is trying to 'balance it'. In 2 days i suppose it reward would be in line with difficulty.

Yes, I just received the same mission right now. My Raven with 9700 shield and +50 resists for shield is almost obliterated in 10 secs. I've looked into the log, and I summed a few hits: 1200+ damage in 3 seconds.

If your gonna jump into a level 3 mission with only 50% or so resitences then no offence man you can expect to get obliterated.
Bare minimum of 75% or 80% for the 2 core damage types of that rat if you can for a level 3 to walk it with great ease.
I Know some people can do missions on very low resistences but for those of us who dont have the skills the the 75%-80% is a good recomendation.
Also dont forget that mission rats will now be using Heavy Assult Missiles, low range but a deadly firing rate, its not somthing we'v seen before so tanking may have to be re-thought for the smaller NPC's.

heh try the blockade lvl3 68k reward 65k bonus (wich has run out now but erm hardly optainable) 190LP
so far ive killed rats in exess of 5m ... chewed thru 6 auroras ....
still not done yet wuuuh

Well, in my mission I had to kill guristas, they fire kinetic, my kinetic resistance was 70%. However, I've been doing L3s for almost 2 moths, and I really encountered packs of feroxes firing heavies. Well, this was way beyond...and it seems it's not only my opinion

nah lol i got jumped by way too manny rats at once + they keep spawning and coming and comon 6m in bountys now and its harder than angel extravaganza or pirate invasion (wich now actualy are rather easy for me on lvl3 ... )

Stop the thief seems to have mercenairy spawns. If this is true kill the commanders first. They do EM damage. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Yeah, well, there are 7 or 8 commanders and 1 frigate (the thief). Of course I would kill the commanders first

Zrakor posted that killing certain NPC types initiates more spawns...I'm really hoping someone posts WHAT those NPCs are BEFORE I get that mission. ---

It cant be just average missiontime. Downing the slaves take takes about 15 mins for level III and twice that for level IV and pays out the same as Angel X.

I`m doing the missions now and 1 thing I noticed. you get 8 merc commanders 85k each, but only TWO stay at a distance. Thoses two are the only remaining onces now, I`ll see what happens when I kill one.
Will update shortly.

Mission payouts are always out of whack after a major patch that involved changes to missions. The payouts are on some weird escalating scale where the more missions you do the more they become, even for the same mission. My understanding is the counter gets reset to zero when they update the missions in a patch. I don't know if explanation is accurate at all, but that's the basic gist.

Actually, while that is a moderate difficulty mission at best, the first stage has 400k units worth of omber asteroids. Some players tend to farm them for days on end (just don't goto the 2nd stage and it re-spawn at downtime).
That is why there is a 6 hr payout on that mission. Things aren't always as they seem.
