Following is the open letter to the Gallentean Federation Foreign Affairs.
------
Dear Sir/Madam
I hereby formally request Gallentean Citizenship, with all that such an action entails. I am fully aware of my status as a ship captain and the complications said status can have on citizenship and changing thereof. Nevertheless, and despite the sudden hindrances between the two state bodies, the Caldari State and the Gallentean Federation, this is my will. My reasons are my own.
In hopes of a positive response, Raem Civrie

If he was a real Caldari, he would state that this was a profit making venture to begin with! I hope he never makes a profit if he joins the damn Gallenties!!

Leaving his corp, leaving the state, no profit... that is pure hell! You deserve it for daring not to conform!

Edited by: Raem Civrie on 15/11/2003 00:10:05 Everything we do is centered around profit. Ideology is centered around profit, in one or another form. In that sense, may or may not be different from you.
And why should I have to explain myself? I grew up in the Gallente Federation. The only reason I accepted the Caldari citizenship is because I had no other choice; the Federation Academy was closed to me at the time, whilst the State Academy was not.
Lecture me of values, vultures. You are so blinded by the monetary gains your actions *might* entail that you ignore the consequences they *will* bring. You sacrifice your souls at Mammon's Altar to scrounge together a few pennies while ignoring the vast opportunities that lie ahead.
Why should I conform to a flawed system? Why should I accept something that goes against everything I was brought up to believe, and accept the actions of my countrymen just because the corporate leaders sanctioned it?

Laughable that you preach about not wanting to conform, yet here you are pining to join the Federation.
The Federation is laughable, their ancestors ridiculed and laughed at throughout all of history. The actions of today reflect this, they're are weak, forgettable.
The sooner a war breaks out, the better.
Should flush the system of the shoddy rhetoric they drape themselves in.

I take it back. He is having a breakdown. No true Caldari would walk away from profit or his corporation. Quick, someone restrain him and get him down to the re-education center!

In my line of work, Gallentean contacts benefit me more. The Caldari State's strangulating society has seriously hampened my business efforts in the past, and I do not want that to continue. Save me the cries of "abandoning profit". It is none of your business.
I am not Caldari. I was born and bred in the Gallentean Federation. Only my ancestry pulled me back to the Caldari federation, as I explained before.

Ignoring opportunities that lie ahead? Don't make me laugh. Corporate Darwinism is the Caldari mantra. Natural selection, survival of the fittest. No one is better suited to grasp opportunities as they rise. Your choice to run into the hypocritical arms of the Gallente Federation is a fools choice. Abandoning the company of honorable hardworking peers to mix with corrupt delinquents obsessed with their own moral superiority is abhorant. By making such a choice you have proven yourself weak. And thus your presence is a weakness for the Caldari State, and must be severed. If my eyes made me weak i would cut them out myself. And so good ridance fool. Enjoy your new life with our old oppressors. We meet again as enemies.

Ah, yes...the classical Caldari reply to all those who would *dare* to question the philosophies of Caldari culture..."we're superior because we obsess over profit."
...small wonder then, that the capital of the State is at "New" Caldari.

You got lucky.
The real question is, would the Gallente Federation have the power over the Caldari State that the Caldari State currently holds over the Gallente Federation, if it were on the losing end of the war, and forced to relocate its entire government?

-and don't give me that Gallente crap about luck being a combination of skill and whatever, luck is simply random unrelated/unaffectable circumstances happening to twist something useful in your direction. _______________________________________________________________________

What power? Some ethics-deprived manager in Sukuuvesta manages to bribe an idiot that deals with the Federation's schools and now you come here babbling some nonsense about the State having power over the Federation? Are you, or have you ever been a Sukuuvesta employee perchance? (they had to have tested those Protein Delicacies on someone before they tried them on the Federation...)

Well, first, for the next half a century or so the average IQ Joe Bob Gallente is gonna be several points lower . Second, you're the dimwits that bought such a suspicious, CALDARI, product which was only tested for 6 months and distributed it to virtually your entiiiiiiiiire kingdom . Third, I thought it was common knowledge that the State has no problem with Suukuvestaa's deal. If there was a problem, we'd just dissolve Suukuvestaa. *DuH*, as the Gallente would say. Fourth, there is no evidence Suukuvestaa bribed anyone, the product was simply approved faster than most. Fifth, I wasn't neccessarily referring to the Protein Delicacies "scandal"...bah. _______________________________________________________________________

You talk of the state like it is the embodiment of perfection, yet you cannot cope with one, singular person applying for Gallentean citizenship? Shouldn't you be glad for my departure, instead of flaring up like you lost something valuable?

hmm. Perhaps you neglected to read this part of my post:
Quote: By making such a choice you have proven yourself weak. And thus your presence is a weakness for the Caldari State, and must be severed. If my eyes made me weak i would cut them out myself. And so good ridance fool. Enjoy your new life with our old oppressors.
How about this:
Quote: But for those who are not cut out for this strict, disciplined regime life quickly becomes intolerable. They lose their respect, family, status, everything, and the only options left to them are suicide or exile.
I'd of rather you committed suicide, that would have been more honorable, but i suppose by leaving you save us the hassle of exiling you.
And as for the Caldari Homeworld; Sentimentality is a weakness the Caldari let the Gallente indulge. One world is just as good as any other for a Homeworld. Rest assured, if taking back our homeworld had a benefit beyond sentiment we would have done it.

M. Civrie,
If you have taken the step of applying for Gallente citizenship, then you already have had first hand experience with Gallente bureaucracy and you will not be surprised when you do not receive a reply before Jovian space is opened up.
Despite that, you are welcome to participate in the Gallente Union. You would not be the first Caldari to do so.

My transition to Gallentean Citizenship is purely official. As I said before, I was raised entirely within the Federation. And I damn well liked it better before I had to attend Military School with the state.
I respect that you value your society, but do not impose it on me purely because of my genetic origins.

It's nice to know that after 20,000 years of development, the human race is STILL stupid enough to waste its time and energy on arguing over which bit of it is better than which other bit.

There's never a really big supernova around when you need one...
