The subject kinda tells the problem, everytime i jump i get a white flash. This is annoying for 2 reasons, 1 it keeps making me jump and 2 it is giving me a headache. Is this an option to turn off or what?

It's just the camera moving away from the sun (dont know why it does this).
Clear/delete your cache, see if it solves it.

simple workaround, look away from the screen, its good for your eyes.

Clearing of the caches doesn't help and unless the camera is moving to the sun for just that frame, it isn't a problem with the camera.
Oh well. I guess I'll just close my eye and hope I actually jump.

the sun thing might be to do with the way the zoom map is created, that starts at the sun and works its way from that point out into the universe it seems.

Having problems with this jumping into map view when docked also. Contrast/brightness control helps but everything else is affected to the point of being ineffective.
I'm all for flashing lights, but bright white 2 foot in front of my face is just annoying the hell out of me atm.
Perhaps there is a nice pair of ccp  's available to reduce the blinding effect? I dont want to end up all  .

That's exactly what it does. On my machine it flashes, but because my machine is some-what of a beast, it zooms out insanely fast, so I don't get much of a 'flash'. That's my theory anyway. I'm guessing that whenever you jump into another system, the camera moves away from the sun really quickly - but I havn't experienced it yet on jumping, just on map zoom.

Being epileptic, I actually hope they address this as a serious issue.
Yes, I look away. I shouldn't have to. And sometimes I forget. This is actually a serious thing and I hope CCP realizes that sooner rather than later.

Why is it a problem, there was probably a black flicker for an instant of a second before you didn't even notice. Why is white so bad. Unless you suffer from epilepsy in which case you probably shouldn't be playing a computer game.

I got a XFX6600GT with updated drivers.

Heh... is this a trick question? When I don't shine a light into your face, you don't notice but when I shine a light into your face, you notice and don't like it...

Same... It's not a hardware issue... What it looks like on my screen is a blank background right before all the items render. Maybe it's a zoom out from the sun effect, like a few have proposed. Tip to developers: Black backgrounds take less resources to show and should ALWAYS be used as initial render plate...
The comments of epileptic dangers and headaches are real, physical, results of this, and should push it much higher on the list of things to fix. At the very least, I would like to see a post by CCP in this thread acknowledging the issue and pormising a fix.
I haven't played for more than an hour at a time since the patch because the flash is so distracting (and quite painful)! People may think this is a tiny little issue, but would you do ANYTHING if someone was, let's say, flicking your nose every couple minutes? I doubt it, and you would most likely get very angry in a very short time...
People should actively bump this topic to keep it up on the forum. If someone knows someone that can make it sticky, that might be better, but a sticky topic implies it will be an issue for a very long time and that is not what anyone wants... |

totally agree there............ cant play long until headache. im lucky not being epileptic ...

i have just started to get this too since revelations patch (oh and by the way gr8 patch lovin it) ive been playin this game on and off since release now im bak into it big style and even brought a gaming laptop to play the game anywhere.
Bak to problem - im nt sure why i get this too but its nt too much of a problem, just ignore it if u can until they sort it out..

hi pilots me again, the only problem i have on my desk top is that it (the game) crashes and freezes all the time, but on laptop it has never happened so i know its my desk top or gfx drivers or card. hence i brought Laptop...
fly safe and play safe.

agree on the point it causes headache and is bad for the eyes evry jump i do i change to desktop and wait 5 seconds

yup i get the flash too with my GeForce 7950 GT graphics card, thats when my machine doesnt CTD when i jump thru a gate that is
