I would like to know if a Corp has one member left in it why not just let it die.
With the Employment Tab now showing [CLOSED] I think we need to move on.

I believe that once closed, someone else could then pick up the name and start using it. By holding it open you're keeping anyone else from doing that.

I don't think they are actually closed. If all members leave the corp, the corp name is still "used" by Eve. So you can't recreate one with the same name.
Otherwise the Employment History wouldn't be accurate, could link to wrong corps etc, or could mislead people in thinking you belong to a corp when infact it was an old/new corp of just the same name. In general in keeps a record of traceability in the data.

No, that corporation would most likely have a different founder, thus you could tell them apart. Just more work to determine it.

I agree it would be nice to be able to re-use a name of an old corp, however I can see why it would be a bad idea.
I personally tried to make a holding corp for my alts on different accounts, mostly as a way of keeping my assets between them.

The keeping of old defunct corps is why we arent just "Eternity" and why a stink was raised with some old Fixians who belonged to the old Eternity Inc

Heck, I'd just like them to release old corp tickers.
We're 'EHJ' in a variety of other games, but EVE has a dead corp sitting on that ticker here.

Commoditize the tickers and names, so you can always change them, trade them, and sell them to equivalent organization classes.
That would be one solution. ---------------------------- "Women's sexy underwear is a minor but significant growth industry of late-twentieth-century Britain in the twilight of capitalism." - Angela Carter |
