I'd like to see a dedicated loot and salvage ship Might be cruiser or industrial class, with a reasonable cargo space (1000 - 3000 m3 without expanders) and a decent amount of high slots for tractor beams and salvage mods.
It can't be the end of all, that you use a Megathron for looting as it has 8 high slots and you can somewhat pimp it into having enough cargo space by fitting a rag of cargo expanders and nano fibers to keep up the traveling speed.

How much volume do you get from salvaging, generally? Could a suped up T2 frigate, like a T2 version of the Bantam or Navitas, do the job? I'd like to see the Sphinx make an appearance. My first Bantam was very special to me.
Give it a big boost to success probability, so that it's fiscally viable to bring one along rather than put that guy in a combat ship and just go faster.
As for loot, Blockade runners already do that pretty well. They zip around and tractor everything as fast as any cruiser could, and have bags of space. -------------- Civis Ascendant Sum |

Destroyers handle this job pretty well, atleast if you are two people. Industrial (of your picking) w. the space and a track beam to pull cans. Drestoyer w. track beams and salvage mods. (w. 8 highs you can track and salvage 4 wrecks in one go)
All you have to do is follow the industrial.
problems occur if you dont have two people or two accounts.

Base it off the T1 cruisers.
1000 m3 base, 8 highs, maybe 4 total launcher/turret points, o no more than 4 weapons. Bonus to salvage chance, reduction in salvage cycle time.

my favorite loot-ship is the Exequror. Standard cargo bay of 600m¦ +10% for every skill level. 3 low slots and 4 highslots.
It¦s not 100% the ship you asking for, but it does quite good as a mission loot collector.

I was planning to use a Prowler for looting/salvaging but after seeing how slow it is I switched to a Stabber with 2x tractors and 4x salvagers. I think I'll be switching to a Cyclone later with a 4/4 setup.
I wish the salvager would auto transfer any loots in the wreck into your hold when you switch it on though, it would make the jump much easier. They could even add a combined tractor/salvage beam into the game to cut down on the number of highs needed.
