For non-brits, it's an offensive slang term that isn't used as much now days.... 'pakies' referring to asian people (regardless of whether they are pakistani) and that they run most corner shops. It's quite a nasty institutional thing that got (touchwood) cleared up around 5 - 10 years back. It does need to be sorted by mods really, just in case someone does get genuinely offended by it and not just all us idiots running around screaming blue murder with our hands in the air.

I'd be more sympathetic, but abreviating a name isn't much of an insult. That's like calling a brittish cizien a brit or a United States citizen an American is an insult. Which last I checked it wasn't. On topic, I agree, the time codes is a good thing. Hats off to CCP for being forward looking enough to implement such a system, that way for people to stay in the game when the budget is tight, as well as a legal avenue for isk transfers that keeps the company in the loop. Like somebody said above me, a "fag" in England is a cigarette, aka in the states as a square, smoke, butt, etc. packy is slang for a corner liquor store in the US. There are even ways to offend people in the states because of regional/institutional differences. One of my friends family is very religious, and I just about gave her mom a coronary when I told her daughter I needed to make a head call in front of her.

Anyone from the UK would instantly recognise it as racist, just because it's not an insult in your country doesn't make it OK. Someone who knows the cultural lingo from CCP should take a look, and wring an apology out as needed. Banning seems a bit harsh though. Banning should only be done if it was intentional, and a lot of us could have came up with a name like that on accident. At least if we aren't from the region anyways. I belive it has something to do with 'package' being shortened. Yes, it is shocking but this is the truth. Now, I would not use the word, but I know its history is longer then the racist version used in the U.K. since the 1960s.
