Has anyone equipped the Maller up to be a good Pirate killer? I am interested in hearing about your setup. Both how you setup the ship and what skills you think are "gotta have".
Thanks!

Not sure how to boil this down, but let me just answer your question by saying "Yes". Mallers can be outfitted to obliterate pirates. You can go several different directions depending on your skill set. However you mix things up though I would recommend at least 50% of your loadout being energy weapons, if not all.
Skills researched should support anything that improves that loadout, such as skills that provide passive bonuses like increases to power grid, increases to cpu, increases to cap recharge rate or max cap volume and especially your weapon skill itself, as each level will increase your damage output.
I Don't like to give out my specific configurations for various reasons, however I will say that currently I can go head to head against 3 20k bounty pirates at once and never come close to loosing my shields.
Just make sure you learn your ships optimal range for your weapons loadouts. Learn which types of flying decrease your probability of being hit etc.
Oh, and the only specific advice I give everyone: Speed is more important than any other facet of EVE. |

Sorry - this is intriguing - what do you mean by this? Thanks.

By type of flying I simply mean get familiar with how to adjust your direction and speed in the most efficient manner for a) staying out of the optimal range of the enemy that you are engaging and b) keeping the enemy at the optimal range for your weapon loadout.
Manual piloting control, such as it exists, is more important than many people think. |

Taking out NPC Pirates with a Maller is way too easy.
Most of the time i only use 1 of my guns at maximum range and take them out one after the other.
5 Angel Marauder (40k) or 4 Angel Liquidators (50k) shouldn`t be a problem if u stay far away.
Most of their Missiles will just explode on the way to you or sometimes just fly past you and explode far away for some reason.
Of course you need good equipment and some of the Gunnery-Skills at 2 or 3.

Which medium-slot items do you use?
MWD is a must, so i'll never undock without one, but for the other one?
Know it depends on the situation, but..
Core-stabilizer (or whatever the anti-warp-disruptor modules are called), is probably a must if you're doing _anything_ solo? So you can get away if attacked, i mean.
How about larger battles? - Shield booster useful?

Now I use 2 Lif booster on maller, near 500m/s is not bad and I can run the 2 ab forever.

Why would you fit 2 AB? Do you mean an MWD and an AB? Doesn't seem worthwhile unless you are going to be in deadspaces a lot... and if that was the case I would just fit a good AB.
