From what I see here most of you mix up, in your rants or in your praises, very different issues about the new system.
1. Things that are mostly UI modifications, and are or aren't improvments over the old system:
- ability to browse in space, to search, to filter, to see the actual content of the package
- new contract types
2. Things that modify the access to the facility:
- skills, no. of max contracts, taxes, minimum price.
3. Things that are modified at a basic level, making contracts completely different:
- the way the result list is transmitted to the user - 25 results at a time or the the entire list (actually the last xxx escrows)
- the scope - you can bid only regionally
In the first category
- these things that could exist very well with the old escrow system, everybody likes them.
- problems I can see: that filtering by item type allows only single items (i.e you cannot look for all shadow stuff or for all faction boosters), filtering by Title looks only in description and not in 'type' and filtering doesn't look anywhere in the strig but only from the beginning.
The second category
- again it is something that could have existed even with the old system, it is not the contracts fault they are there.
- I have mixed feeling about them - the bad - I need to use alts to do business; the good - way less junk entries.
The problem with these two 'tactical' categories is that their implementation took out place at the same time with the 3rd category- the 'strategic' one - that makes the sorted browsing and inter-regional bidding impossible.
What can be done for sorted browsing:
1. Bring back the old system and apply the improvments
- with the number of contracts reduced the list is smaller
- make it so that you can get the entire list 'on demand', not on every opening of the list. Who wants to browse only the last entries will do exactly as they do now. Those that want the entire list have to push a button.
and/or
2. Put all faction items on the market
- the item list will be even smaller, it will be used only for auctions and for sale of package deals and blueprints.
- you won't be bothered by the complaints that the faction commerce is only intra-regional
That being said, I hope I won't hear again 'yes, but But doing this from space WHILE TRAVELLING should more than make up for it' because it has nothing to do with the actual problems we have with the contracts system. (no, it won't make up to it, I could have done the same even with the old escrow if there was a button on the left. that's really all that had to be reprogrammed for that to work)
