I have never been a big fan of BCs, in fact I usually get the crud shot out of me when I try to fly one. But I bought the new Harbiner, however, and it absolutly rocks as a mission runner. I did Angel Extravaganza l3, one of the harder l3 missions and the most difficult enemy type for Amarr ships, and the thing ate it for breakfast. I actually went afk a few times during combat to do something for the kids I was so confident in the tank holding. Im officially a BC fan now. How about a command ship based on this hull in the next expansion?
Great work CCP overall im really loving Kali.

Thats great to hear, CCP is always making new ships for us and seeing as they've pretty much got no more ships to sqeeze in from frig to capital i guess they'll probably expand upwards through the tech levels on ships that don't have a t2 model yet, so yeah expect to see t2 BS and new t2 of the new BC's perhaps for the next big expansion. Probably have to wait a year for it though.

You mind posting your setup? I was messing around with it ratting in 0.0 on SiSi last night and it is a 100% improvement over the Prophecy. I ended up shifting my cap rechargers into mid slots leaveing more room for a tank/heatsinks.
I'll post my setup latter, at school atm

I just call it the hardonbringer.
She's a great ship and while it may not tank as hard as the proph its damage output more than makes up for it.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it.

Sure thing it rocks. Why shouldn't it? It has one extra high, one extra mid, more cpu/grid, a larger dronebay, a slightly better capacitor than a Prophecy. So, totally imbalanced

You shouldn't use Conflag on it. Tracking nerf is simply too much to hit anything less than a webbed bs.:) Use MF.

Mission Setup:
7 Focused medium beam, named or tech 2 if possible.
10mn afterburner Web (best you can get) 2 cap rechargers
2 MARII 2 Rat Specific Active Armor Hardeners 2 Cap Power Relays
5 medium scout drones with rat specific dammage. When fighting guristas, replace web with ECCM-Radar to keep the jams to a minimum.
Assuming good support skills, this fits with room to spare. You can probably replace a couple of the guns with Heavy Beams if you don't mind having different ranges in your weapons. With good cap skills you can fire all the guns, run two hardeners, and one of the MAR more or less forever. If things get crazy you can kick in the second MAR, but the cap wont hold in the long term, so close managment is necessary. Burned through angel extravaganza with no problem and then did The Spy Stash agaist Gurista pirates. Had to fall back a time or two under the gurista missile spam, but never got into structure or felt like I was in serious danger. Its classic Amarr Tank and Burn tactics, nothing subtle, but fun.

That looks like a good setup Zin. What made you go with beam instead of pulse?
Here is my setup, I was able to take on dual 1.1M BS spawns High 7x Heavy Pulse Lazer 1 1x Medium NOS
Med 2x Fixed Parallel Link-Capacitor 1 1x Web 1x 10MN AB
Low T2 MAR 3x Rat Energized membrane 1x Cap Power Relay 1x Heatsink
I kinda ran into PG issues with the Heavy Pulses, so I might give med beam a try. -------------------------------------------------- Loyal servant of the Amarr empire. Why the hell an't my picture showing up....... |

I have to say I really like the new Harbinger.
Cap size is good. CPU size is good, which is appropriate. Amarr ships should be constrained by grid, not by cpu which is currently a real issue on most Amarrian ships (Apoc, Geddon, Maller, etc).
Good all-round ship which is traditionally Amarrian in design. I would have liked to drop the extra high slot to an extra low slot so it would acually be differentiated from the Hurricane, but meh.
My biggest beef is that the gun layout was designed for 8 turrets. With 7 turrets you visually get 1 extra turret stuck out on the side. Thats just sloppy/lazy and should be fixed.

Im waiting for prices to come down...what i want to try is:
pulses with nos in the extra spot mwd, 20km scram, web, cap injector 2x medium reps, hardeners and heatsinks in various combos
not sure about fitting yet. suppose i can test on SISI now, should be lag free enough to actually do stuff.

I gotta agree, the Harbringer brings a great mix of offense/defense/maneuverability to the battlefield. I own(ed) one (its selling now in Lonetrek for 61M! haha) and I found it a great combat vessel...capicitor is a bit low, but now I fly a new abbadon...while waiting for my gunnery skills to allow for large turrets LOL.

heh if you thought Harb has bad cap, just wait 'till you slap some large guns on that 'badon.
Here's my setup for the abbadon btw, best i can be bothered to come up with really due to the current state of the ship. (lasers?! lol no...lasers are for FISH n00b!! <--ccp devs dreaming up the abbadon..)
high NOS med SCRAMS low ZOMGTANK

actually I'm more of the opposite:
amarr ships should have CPU as their fitting limiter, and not grid. the reasons why is because of my stubbornness in attempting to put a defined racial conception in all ships. (meaning: amarr have big lumps of armored laser spewing ships but don't have that much advanced computers. Their powerplants are top-notch tho, and that allows for ships with very high-powered grids.) -------

And instead they get barely adequate computers - try getting a pvp setup in a harbinger with t2 pulse, t2 nos and fleeting scrambler/web - and sub-standard powergrid - just look at the powergrid of the abaddon and maelstrom side-by-side... ----------------

I wrestled with that choice. I took beam becuase I just like a little more range. No claims that its "better", just fits my prefed combat style; I dont like to have to get point blank to do dammage. If I was flying an Apoc instead I would go with pulse, but in the medium size i just like to be able to reach out a little further. The beams have enough tracking to nail anything destroyer size or larger, and between the web and the drones the frigates go pretty fast too.

I know, I noticed it right away and it annoys me too. The gun setup should be symetrical with all the hardpoints full. But if thats the worst thing with the ship I guess I will take my lopsided gun and go own missions with it. :)

I picked up a harbinger yesterday myself. I know I totally overpaid for it (by at least 20 million going by the platinum policy return) but my prophecy got blown up and I had the cash so I figured what heck . Truth be told I can't help but think of it as a coercer on steroids tho. I do agree that it was most likely originally intended to be an 8 gun ship but they prolly decided last minute to turn the 8th slot into a no hardpoint with salvaging interest in mind or maybe enough people complained about the prophecy not having a spare slot for a nos, tractor beam.
The spare slot and the 50 m3 drone bay was what sold me on it now I can use my drone skill to full ptoential and make the loot come to me

The Har(rrr!)binger is a dream come true. It allows Amarr to bring something more to the sub-BS gang. The fourth medslot is its best feature. Now you can inject-tank without having to lose either web, scram or speed (mwd/ab), making it a possible solo ship.
Something i will try as soon as prices come down some more is a pure gankage setup a la Omen Vanguard design. Im thinking along the lines of a full rack of pulses and 1 nos; AB, sensor booster, tracking pc and injector; 3 x HS II, 1 x MAR II, 1 x energized regenerative (for some extra armor without sacrificing acceleration and manouverability) and 1 x EANM II. bear with me that i have no idea if this will fit in any way but ill find out soon enough. This ship can bring the damage!
This space is mine, mine alone!!!oneoneeleven! (You can rent it for cookies though.)

Harbinger = Sex
my new favourite ship. its a shame the prophecy sucks so badly, but this more than makes up for it
If only it had the Opt range bonus of the Zealot, it'd be the new BC-sized Gankageddon ----------- Turbulance |
