Could you please put little floating titles under the people at the table so we know who they are? Name/Character name, corp, alliance?
- Got grief?

I'd very much like to hear pilot names when they call out ships for each side.
I admit I'm dissapointed the EVE TV commentators seem to be really unknowledgable on northern alliances. A better mix of north & south commentators would help.

There were requests sent out to all 40 alliances. Only a dozen replied with information regarding themselves. We've tried to do some research in our spare time and find out about those alliances that we didn't know about, but we don't know everything and as a result there are holes in our knowledge.
I'm sorry that you feel that we're lacking a detailed hisotry dossier about D2, but you should look to your own alliance leadership rather than bash us.
As for having a list of names, overlaying a second graphical interface onto the existing stream is an expensive process and as such wasn't used.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

AHH ifni - now we know what you look like! :) hehe, its been a long time since we fought... but DNA were always a lot of fun in y9g and around about.
Good job on the commentating, its not like they're professionals. But yeah - just read out the pilot names and try and analyse the strategy as you see it. Noone is going to blame you for being wrong - we can hardly see anything between the low res feed and the buffering anyway. Tell us what you can see!
Cheers Tar om
PS can we have some RZR opponents "healed" in their next match please. I'd like that ;) -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net

How about big giant placards they wear around their necks with the information on it. Or signs infront of them on the desk...but with big huge letters, so we can read them. I am serious though...just something so we know who is talking. I also like the idea of mentioning pilots names along with ship type. kinda sucks more alliances didnt send in the information.

I know I sent in ours, but I'm resending it again tonight in case the gods of email looked with disfavor upon the goat I sacrificed.

Still,
rattlign off ship types off cue cards when introducing two teams makes it *really* hard for me (and presumably others) to actually associate icons with ship types.
It's simply too fast. "For xyz, we have Eos, Curse, Celestis, Maulus, Griffin, and abc have brought a Raven, Absolution, Huginn and a Cynabal"
That is TOO fast. By the time I've memorized the Curse on the left side you're already listing abc ships. I'm far more successful with looking at the icons and FIGURING what ship it could be (no, wouldn't be a Rapier, Huginn is the one without cloak etc.)
Why not add pilot names if only to make it a bit slower?
"That's Tank CEO in a Cerberus, and next to him is <whoever> in a Drake ...."
Pretty please also on behalf of the pilots? --

Dunno how you can claim to be an expert commentary team without knowing the history of D2.
They're not some two-bit random alliance, after all.

Edited by: Elmicker on 01/12/2006 21:59:04 Edited by: Elmicker on 01/12/2006 21:58:32 I have to admit that some of the "experts" knowledges were lacking in certain areas (see: everything but BoB and ASCN), i think Andrew was the only one to be active in the South-East, which, let's face it, is where the most war-type stuff goes on. While i understand not getting the info on the smaller alliances might hinder your knowledge of them, but it's D2. They practically rule half of EVE. You knew more about the 1-man alliance than the leader of the biggest northern coalition. Would it be that hard to spend about 5 minutes with a couple of convos and forum searches to find out about them? It'd make everything alot better.
edit: been readin about some more, and it seems the person tasked with doing those convos and searches has been without internet for 2 weeks and hasn't actually talked to the experts yet...

Heck, I didn't even catch the D2 commentary so that wasn't my complaint at all (doesn't sound promising from your response though). I'd assume anyone with even passing EVE awarenses could do that.
Nah, the thing that really made me frown was listening to them talk about Anarchy Empire and go 'gosh, we have no clue who these guys are', when anyone who hangs up north, particularly in the 0.0 turf closer to empire, is going to have seen those corps for a long time.
Seemed under-knowledgable, and my guess was that it was regionally biased since the commentators didn't have that same problem when dealing with smaller southern groups.

Remember that overall, the North has historically been FAR more dynamic than the South. The last significant change in the South was AAA taking over Catch, and before that the ousting of Tribal Souls. Other than that, the last major change the South saw was the whole SA/SE thing, and that tapered off like a year ago.
My point is, the southern alliances have had a LOT longer to get established and make themselves known. Although I do agree there should be at least some general knowledge of groups like D2 and RZR, when I saw the name Anarchy Empire (and a lot of these others) I went "who?" And that's coming from somebody that reads these forums on a daily basis. ----------

no complaints here - but RIOT (Anarchy Empire) are not the RP alliance of this tourney
Weirda not aware if we sent anything to contrary though (blame canada)
Safe to say w/Kali and all sort of other thing everyone have been very stressed and busy. Weirda is very honored to be a part of this and happy that it going on at all!
Would be cool if all the couch people were in big orange monkey suit though with name/alliance on them.

I hear that those Cult of War [CoW] chaps are the real roleplayers of this tourney, especially that Ookke chap. I hear they roleplay a group of mutant battle-cows who took to space after there home-world of Moo-topia was conquerd by a coalition of radioactive apes and Lawnmower manufacturers.
It's true you know. -----

Historically, maybe, but recently, it's all been one big D2-led lovefest.
Quote: The last significant change in the South was AAA taking over Catch, and before that the ousting of Tribal Souls. Other than that, the last major change the South saw was the whole SA/SE thing, and that tapered off like a year ago.
I was actually referring to places further south and east than catch, which have all been in a state of total war for what seems like forever. You get 300+ pilot battles every night, even in the regions where the smaller (to quote) "caretaker" alliances live see massive battles when you take into account the number of pilots in the alliances involved. Just because people don't go around chest-beasting about every little skirmish on the forums doesn't mean nothing's happened. Frankly, Goon siding with RA, and making a fighting force that can do damned near anything, is pretty damned major, and that's just one of the changes. Everything changes every 10 minutes down here, as i'm sure Andrew Gunn will agree.
and for those who didn't see the D2 commentary, it was basically the BoB alts going "Well, we occasionally bash at each other, but we don't know much about them", and a reference to the fact they recently did a bit of gankage in Immensea. That's about it, and if that was the best a panel of experts could come up with, it's fairly poor.
