Originally by: Vladimir Ilych To the OP. As a mission runner i would not mind this. I have to search every wreck with a salvager to make it go pop. This has extended my loot gathering time by maybe 400%. I run missions because my play time is limited. I hear a fix is coming on Tuesday but cannot find the details. Can anyone point me in the direction of the notes?
There is no fix. The only thing planned is to have the ownership or not of wrecks on by default (you can actually manually activate that now). That will NOT show if a wreck has loot or not it will only show if it has been looted or not, so looting would still require having all the wrecks searched.
All I do in game is run missions and I agree with the OP. Get the wrecks out of the missions. Maybe they can be profitable, but the bore factor and the time waaste factor are quadrupled. Especially since either due to a bug or by design, entire missions have nothing to salvage. ________________

Wrecks are a cool idea and all, but IMHO asside from the posibility of a few new gadgets, which seem to be hard to come by, they have only increased the amount of boring tasks in EVE.
It really is annoying to have to loot wrecks, only to find they contain nothing of value, and then I have to devise a way to make sure I don't confuse a wreck I checked for one I havn't.
Only way I have found to do this, is the blow em up (as I havn't even tried to salvage yet).
This means I end up using more ammo, which mean I spend more ISK per kill, and more time for looting, and more hassle, more clicks.
Basically, everything a new game feature shouldn't do to a player, Wrecks do.
It could be easily solved just making it so wrecks indicate that they have loot. OR if ships dropped both cans and Wrecks.
As far as the wrecks go visually, I find them to be pointless, you can barely see them for one thing (I was hoping for at least a ship/structure sized debris cloud or something interesting. Not some simple flotsam thats so small you can barely see it.
Overal Wrecks are the worst implemented feature EVE has ever seen, because it effects everyone negatively.
But they could be fixed just by having it so wrecks with loot have a different color than ones without. or half the other good suggestions on this thread.
Again, wrecks only add more hassle to the game, any feature that adds so much hassel, should also add a great deal of benefit... But this adds only the hassel, and very little benefit.

Another well thought out and exquisitely expressed argument. I clearly cannot compete on this level of debate.

I agree with everything you said except this:

The last thing we need is bumping all over wrecks and have to manually navigate around them when we try to loot, on top of all the other hassles Wrecks have introduced. ________________

Well I don't really care so much about how they look, more importantly I never suggested they block your path... I was just saying that you would think that at least they would provide a little eye candy, especialy if they are going to be a nuisance.
But nope... Not even that...

How about waiting until after tuesdays patch for a start
secondly - dry your eyes about wrecks - don't like them? shoot them.
Mission runners and ratters don't want to use rigs either I suppose?

However.
If you make wrecks a PvP only thing (as in, they drop from player ships only) rig prices will make HAC prices look fine and dandy.
My thoughts on the whole thing?
Up until now CCP's mini-professions were successful and did not mess with other aspects of gameplay. They were optional. If you wanted to do them [mini-professions] you could do it - more power (and ISK) to you.
Salvaging in it's current state messes with other aspects (missions, NPCing) way too much. That much, I think, is obvious. It only brings frustration to the table.
No doubt Devs have a plan. We'll see how it works out.
My suggestion?
Have wracks and cans both. Loot drops in cans, wracks are salvageable. Everyone's happy. Vultures salvage wracks, looters loot cans, someone does both.
No, this does not generate more lag (certainly not more then the current situation) and most likely won't touch your FPS.
Everyone's happy.

Your idea is perfect. I would re-activate my accounts if they implemented this. The current state of wrecks is just a mind numbing headache and is not worth it to pay for a **** implementation.
Oh yes I can blow up the wrecks when I find they are "empty". I would rather not even have to look. Cans were much more efficent and even if it was trash loot at least the can signified loot. Wreck signify having to check them out wasting tons of time and most of them are empty.
Don't get me wrong the "mini-profession" is a great idea it is has just made this game no longer enjoyable for me. Yeah sure you players that have been on 3+ years that don't have to grind missions any more don't have to deal with it but a large majority of us newer players do.
