They have no reason to post with a main character if they suspect they will be persecuted for what they say here, in-game.
This game can be used to persecute characters in-game a lot easier than most MMOs thanks to the way the mechanics of the game are. Tracker agents make that even easier.
So if anyone feels they need to use an alt I would suggest you do so. |

RP isn't an excuse either as that should stay on RP forums, GD isn't one of them. So if anyone feels they need to use an alt I would suggest you do so. Credibility for one. Also as a regular poster I am yet to be 'persecuted' for any of my postings. Perhaps it's the way people post with their ALTs that deserves persecution.
I've already edited that post you quoted, mainly because I had forgotten it was crime and punishment.
But anyway, it still remains a fact that in this game it would be easy to do so. |

It's a stupid requirement. If you know what their main is then what? Does it change anything? it is what is being said which is the key to its credibility.

He robbed one of my ALTs corps but I won't tell you which in case of retribution or Bob forbid you do some fact checking and find out what I said was because he killed my blingy battleship because I was flying it like an idiot and now I'm pissed off about it... Also I speak with great authority on the issues plaguing nullsec and low sec with my vast unnamed ALTs experience so what I say is beyond question... Do you feel a little bit silly now? You should
Do I feel silly? Not in the slightest.

Like I said the key to credibility is in what is being said. |

Not really. The President of the United States gets on TV and declares that an asteroid is about to hit the earth and wipe out most of the human race. People panic, find shelter or find something on their bucket list that can be accomplished really fast. A homeless bum camera bombs a newscast and declares the same thing. People laugh and the video trends on youtube for about 6 minutes.
I should have made it clearer I was specifically referring to games forums. It was about players posting with mains or alts not even about CCP telling us something.
Or do you think what you say is more credible than what another player says. Likelihood is most don't know either of you so it comes down to what is said, what someone already knows about the game and common sense.
Then you could say but a 12 year old character shows they know something about the game, but it doesn't necessarily they may have just purchased it from the bazaar. On the other hand you don't know how long someone has played the game for if they're using an alt. So it comes back to what I bolded and underlined.

If you consider that a factor then an alt is the way to go. The point is all about the credibility from you. Will you take what a random guy from the streets says about the economy to the US to be more true over what the known experts says about it? Again, it's all about credibility and all about getting the info from the persons we KNOW knows their stuffs.
This really is the final word from me on main and alts in this thread.
The point is other players won't know who is an expert, like I said in the previous post.
You don't know with an alt or main for that matter how experienced a player is. The clues to how experienced they are comes in what they say. |
