Seriously dude, most of the time you had little or no input on anything and when you did say something it was simply pointing out the obvious. (HAHAH Fly Catcher.. giggle.. hehee)
Every one loves Jamesw and Infi and Monkey and Farjung because they are active contributors to the show and mention a lot of info and have insite on the teams. Can't you get a bit more involved?
You're boring and need to kick it up a notch or give up your seat to someone more spontanious.

He's not meant to be there but he snuck in while everyone was busy and he's so small that no one has noticed yet. Put yourself in his shoes; would you rather stay there unobtrusive but in the front row or say something and risk get a clip round the ear and being chucked out?

Majin82, I'm exstending an invitation for you to jump on the SIRadio Ventrillo Server to answer me a few questions, live on air. Namely:
1 - Why you think Andrew Isn't up to par. Personally I realise that each person on the panel brings something different to the broadcast. For me, Andrew brings humour, knowledge, political know-how and the ability to get baited by me :D
2 - How you'd do better
3 - Why you didn't apply to be an expert
4 - What you think gives you the right to attack a volunteer who is taking time from his work, girlfriend and life to come entertain you
Please email me at [email protected] with a time and date before friday telling me when's good for you _

People have the right to openly and constructively critise what they want. Sick of these idiots saying "step up or shutup". Critics generally arent as good at the stuff as the people they are criticising (Just look at the media).
While these commentators/presenters should be respected because they did actually stand up and do it (God knows i couldnt be arsed), that doesnt mean we have to think they are amazing at it, or keep our opinions to ourselves.
I do however think this post is very unconstructive and just a dig at Andrew (whoever he is). So STFU! ------------------

I'll answer these here and now:
1. I find him extremely irritating, a hyper little 14 years old boy (I don't know how old he is really but that's what he seems) who basically spits out tired old jokes 'LOL THEY'RE ALL MINERS LMFAO' over and over and doesn't really seem to have much in depth knowlege of the game is not really who I envisage representing EVE TV. I know I'm not alone in finding him quite irritating.
2. I'd calm down, do a bit more research into the game maybe and try and form some interesting opinions or observations on the teams/tactics/fight (NOTE: 'This team is ****' is not an interesting opinion or observation). Also stop trying so hard to be funny.
3. I can't get that amount of time off work and I have to many commitments to spend several weeks away from home.
4. Last time I looked, it wasn't illegal to state an opinion or criticise someone in the UK or the USA or Iceland etc, Majin didn't even flame him that bad to be honest. Fair play to him for stepping up (although it's not like a free holiday is oh such a horrible thing to subject yourself too), but like I've said it's not an unpopular opinion that he maybe wasn't the best choice.
In fact, to be honest I've been less than impressed with you as well this time round Spiral, I appreciate your effort to inject humour into the proceedings but a lot of the time you come across as just being a loud mouthed braggart with little or nothing of value to say, rather relying on 'Well, these guys are ****' (and yes I realise you do this to every team and it's probably in jest, but it isn't funny) and the like.
Anyway, that's just my two cents.

I have to agree with this. Many of us simply cant or dont want to participate in the so called expert panel(for a freakin GAME mind you), but that doesnt mean our right to criticize said panel is void.
You have to take a step back spiraljunkie and realize that were not all scrawny nerds that are afraid to voice our opinions. Personally i minimize my media player as soon as a fight is over because i cant stand some of the internet-personalities you have up there.
And its so damn pathetic to see some of you idolize these "experts". I mean what the hell is wrong with you people!? Did you get your luncboxes stolen one time too many in school or something?

You only can please some of the people some of the time, and u cant please everyone all of the time. take the critics who give both bad and good comments for what it is. ive no idea on statistics but it seems to me the majority like and enjoy what is being done incl myself , some are indifferant, some dont even watch , while a few others wont be pleased. i think the commentary, the panel all have strenghs and weaknesses and together u make eve tv humerous, exciting and interesting- keep it up and please never get discouraged.

I agree, his yesterday's comment about AAA was "Oh I dont even remember what they had, maybe more remote repping?" The guy needs more solid opinions, and not be afraid to take a point of view and stick with it, rather than going "Oh I don't really know which 2 of these group are going to make it, I'm not seeing anything definitive" etc.

Edited by: Ciphero on 04/12/2006 22:30:38 I actually quite like Andrew. He's not the best there but I certainly don't have the same complaints as others seem to: "they role play as heterosexuals" gave me a good laugh.
Farjung and Ifni are godly when it comes to know-how, devs are great when it comes to funny accents, Meb is Lord of the Rings all over again and Andrew just slots in as a jack of all trades who is, as Spiral said, baited pleasantly easily.
Majin and Ikvar (well, not Majin so much) - if you don't like the guy, fine, but why all the venom? He's not just stolen your mother and put her up on ebay for 10p, he's just giving opinions on a panel. Calm the **** down about it. |

EVE TV is very Baised at times. its stupid and unprofessional to rip on a whole alliance if a tournament team f**s up. you guys need to seriously think twice before you spit some c**p on live TV, Remember that the show is meant for commentaries and constructive criticism. not: Burn eden are know to be clowns of dampeners who can;t fight with warp core stabs. or OMG MC armor tanked a Raven, i cant belief people pay them to do s**t.
That is sad and childish comments that are more suitable for forum whoring and not a professional plateau. EVE TV is just a massive Smack Fest IMO.

Edited by: Helganstandt on 04/12/2006 23:55:20 While I can get over the biased commentary and lack of professionalism (seriously, who's expectations are that high for a 2nd time broadcast?) one thing I'm having trouble stomaching is this self-righteous attitude of "well, we're actually doing it, so you have no right to criticize".
If you guys want your audience to grow, maybe you'd actually look at the criticism and instead of throwing it out the window. Maybe take a second to think why someone is criticizing you. It could very well be because one of your experts is genuinely annoying, and some of us are muting our media-players during the commentary because it's embarassing to watch.
I'm not saying that I don't appreciate what evetv is doing. I do, and I don't expect things to be interesting the whole time, nor do I expect the experts to do enough research to always know what they're talking about. And I am glad that the tourney is being broadcast so everyone can see it for free.
But at the very least, I would expect some sort of humility in dealing with criticism. The way spiraljunkie has resonded in this thread is completely uncalled for. You guys haven't earned the right to be that self-righteous. EVEtv is still a mess, and still needs a lot of work. Even if you managed to get it up to major network standards, there are always things that could be done better. If anyone, spiraljunkie has no right to attack his criticizers.
If you're wondering what right the OP has to complain, he has EVERY right to complain. Whether you like it or not, the player base is the real reason that EVEtv exists. So maybe you should listen to your customers, and take the good criticism with the bad, and at most reply with "We're doing the best we can, but we can always do better, constructive criticism is always welcome."
Otherwise, you just look like you don't care what anyone thinks, and I guarantee you it will hurt you in the long run.

I have to mostly agree with him (agreeing with BE what is the world coming to, although my respect has risen alot for them over the last few days)
The odd warp core stab joke or the Mach going out of bounds is quite amusing but in my opinion it got to the point especially with Spiraljunkie where he was just trying to get snide comments in as much as possible.
Also taking the mick out of people's setups when he clearly doesn't know how to set ships up.
Over all EveTV has been very enteraining and I thank the people who have spent their own time to bring this to the Eve community. But at some points I almost turned it off as the repeated jokes and remarks had become very tiresome.
