Edited by: RuleoftheBone on 30/06/2007 11:13:19 From my point of view the exploration content is a nice addition. Losec appears nicely populated....currently on my list of hits awaiting exploitation include:
-Multiple hidden asteroid fields -3 DS plex/combat site -2 Radar sites.
While I think certain bits might be a bit buggy (empty cans in arc/sal/radar from time to time) overall it seems to work pretty good and is a relaxing distraction from my "day" job .
Seriously though...in viewing some of the complaints I rather suspect the inability to find sites or they take too much time is down to folks attempting exploration in a non-covops (or non-scan bonus frig) and/or poor skills. Without exception I have been able to find EVERY site indicated by multispec hits within a reasonable amount of time (usually no more than 30-45 minutes per site not including time to set the system up with probes and making BM's for good coverage).
It's even obvious on the Quest probes to seperate deadspace "Unknowns" from "encounter" (i.e. ship scanner) "Unknowns" as they ALWAYS show some scan deviation error as opposed to the zero result from encounters. And the encounter sigs do NOT show up on multispecs .
Free tip...watch out in losec...I tripped a spawn at a Radar site and in come a triple BS, cruisers, and frigs out of nowhere. Cheers for that seat-soiling moment there LeMonde
No....I did not lose my ship
**EDIT**I know I'm going to be hated for this....but LeMonde...is there any provision for laying mines in game? In my errrr....day job it would be mucho fun to find the sites and leave little presents for others to "find"...kind of like laying out lobster pots if you get my drift . Or is that a bit much even for EvE ???

Originally by: Juha85 Encounters do show up on multispec. I wish there was a way to completely block your exploration probes from finding the encounters.. cause you find them with all ur scans ur previous scan results get overwritten.
Nope...they don't. Tested it this morning. Dropped a multispec and the only hit was an "Unknown". Laid out Quests and had 5 hits-4 of which were to zero-deviation locations and one of which had a deviation of .288AU. Guess which had the warp gate . The initial exploration deadspace signal hits also appear to display as red on the system map versus green for the "encounters".

This isk/hour comparisons are pretty weak to read. For some of us its the journey-not the destination. If you are not having fun probing out exploration sites-do something else. And I mean that in a nice way .
And again...with proper analysis of the system layout and decent skills (by decent covops/all astro skills L4-L5 plus gravity rigs) I have only had two sites that took more than one set of Quests to pin down...and both came up during the second set of Quests dropped in the respective systems.
The rewards have been hit and miss, but since starting exploration during quiet times over the last 4 weeks I have pulled over a half-billion isk in skillbooks, BPC's, components, and hidden belt mineral exploitation passed to those who like to mine.
Not to mention the Hulk and Buzzard kills .
Point is-while there is always room for improvement and remaining bug fixes you all need to remember it is exploration....not automatic free lunch.
