average pricing is based of 2 mill sp per 1 bill. it would be more economical to spend 12 bill passive training than 22 bill buying yours, or simply buying one that is apporpriately priced. 10.5 bill |

Char sellers need to take some basic economics courses or something. Understand that if you train right you can get around 20m sp/yr in training a character. Now since PLEX is right at around a bil it makes the math easy -- I want to train this char up on my own using PLEX it would take me about 14b to do so, and about 13-14 months. Since the char is already trained for what I would train my hypothetical new char for, I'm willing to pay a bit of a premium to avoid waiting the 14 months to get a character with these skills. Yet I'm not talking about a 6b or more ISK premium -- that's just ridiculous. Sellers REALLY need to start being more realistic about what their characters are honestly worth, and if they are able to rope in a mark for some high dollar amount that's great, but if people want to actually sell chars to players who know what they're doing and regularly buy and sell chars, they're going to have to start coming to the grim reality of the economics of character training. Namely, it's a buyer's market right now and sellers expecting out-of-equilibrium prices for their characters are just gumming up the works and making things worse in the char market.

Whilst I understand where DS is coming from it's not really about what I have to sell for it's about what I want to sell for. If you would rather spend a year (which IMO is a long term investment) training the char then please don't let me stop you. But if you want the convenience of a pre-trained char then please bid.
Also, i'd like to point out that I have a starting bid and B/O, my B/O is high as it's what i'll take if someone wants to instantly buy the char. It's not meant to be a nice low price as I want to wait for a buyer willing to pay a premium for the char they want and I want to sell. This is what a B/O should be. However, if none comes along and a more discerning buyer or buyers wish to bid for the char then that will start from a far lower amount.

Sure you can train the pilot for cheaper yourself, but do you want the links toon now? or in 14 months.. and remember the 2b ISK lost in the transfer process as well.
