I read Kallocain by Karin Boye at a stage in my life when it really hit home, hard to tell if I'd still like it. It's very Equilibrium.

Of all time, there's too many to mention! Some genuinely great, others good in there own way, but although not so great, have brilliant ideas, plots, twists or some such that makes them stand out. What kinda things do you like?
I just recently discovered an author called Jennifer Fallon. She writes fantasy stories & has two brilliant trilogies out..."The Demon Child" trilogy and "The Second Sons" trilogy, both of which are fantastic, she's an excellent writer. I didn't realise how good until I got properly sucked in about a third of the way through the first books of the trilogies...from that point you're hooked! The latter in particular is very atypical for a fantasty...no magic, no evil orcs or what have you, but is instead full of political intrigue, crossing, double-crossing, triple-crossing and characters so lifelike you want to love and/or kill them.
Another very random, good-but-not-quite-great book with a fantastic idea is "Blood Of The Lamb" by Thomas F. Monteleone. The premise is brilliant, though the execution falls a little short of that...it is about a young Brooklyn priest who slowly discovers he has supernatural abilities and as the web unfolds, he discovers that he is in fact, a genetic clone of the big JC himself, created from a drop of blood from the Turin Cloth , by a high-ranking group of Vatican officials (you know this from the start, so I haven't spoiled a thing for you). It's got lots of intrigue, suspense and thrills. Not a favourite of mine, but well worth a read & should give you something to keep yourself occupied! I'm actually out of books myself, will probably write one of my own just to have something to keep me occupied! -------------

Enders game and Enders shadow series (kinda-sorta the same thing)
Theres also a fantasy themed series that all have the word "darkness" in the title. The thing that makes it cool is the entire series is based off of WWII so its fun to identify things and people that you know about from history.
And then theres the Federal Aviation Regulations and Airmen's information manual. Boring as **** but I end up reading it a lot. _______________________________ Idea stolen from DS:

"Night's dawn" trilogy by Peter F hamilton (Got me into science fiction books)
"Prince of nothing" series by R. Scott Bakker. Simply awesome; fantasy, including wizards etc. Follows a "crusade"
Altered Carbon, and the other Richard Morgan books. Sci-fi, with a "clone jump" esque theme. Very bitter.
These are the books which I have read recently, and I would recommend them to anybody who likes a challenging read. The "Prince of nothing" series had me engrossed from the end of the first book.
Also, Ian (M) Banks is a very good author. He uses the M in the middle of his name when he writes sci-fi. All of his books are good, so far as I can remember, if a little short.

Top 3:
Excession - Ian M Banks Simply superior sci-fi, in terms of scale, plot and sheer awesomeness I've not found anything that can beat it.
Guards Guards - Terry Pratchett Funny, brilliant and highly enjoyable this is a must have for any fantasy reader, or even a non fantasy reader.
emergency sex (and other desperate measures) - multiple authors Some thing a little different, this is a non-fiction book that follows the lives of 4 civilian workers in the UN as they get through various war zones and civil conflicts. Eye opening and grim in places but an excellent read.
