I have noticed that some people have formed small corps just so that they can declare war on 3 others corps and perform "legitate" acts of piracy. I feel this is a shame that people are using this loop hole as, as someone mentioned before, some corps would like to be at war with more than 3 corps. I would also like to see this as a feature if people could stop using this as a loophole to allow high sec piracy. The reason I call it high sec piracy is that some one man corps are declaring war on corps that travel a lot in high sec systems so they can attack them (even tho they may have never met them before). Although I agree that there does not really need to be a reason to go to war I am very concerned that some ppl are just using this as a way of attacking others who stay in high sec space because they do not wish to get involved in the PvP aspect of the game. I think it should be possible for some people to play this game in such a way that they can join a corp and do not have to engage in PvP if they do not wish to. Staying in 0.5 space and above, I believe, should allow them to do this without the threat of one person declaring war on them just so that can perform their pirate activities.
I believe, with the way corp wars work at the moment, it reduces the number of ways in which people can play the game and can completely eliminate the option of playing this game in a non PvP fashion. I know this game is primarily a PvP game, and I think that is a good thing, but I do think that the game mechanics need to be looked at in order to allow some players to avoid PvP altogether.
I can not think of a good way around this. One possible improvement was mentioned before in that a corp needs to be of a certain size to be formed, but this would not be fair on pppl who want to form a very small (1 or 2 person) corp.
Another possible improvement is that it should cost a large amount of isk to go to war, but this might stop the smaller corp from "getting in on the action" and having wars of their own.
I was also thinking about concord reacting to any PvP action in high sec space and puniching the agressor (like they do now if there is not a corp war), but then people could just use this as a way to retreat from and hide from a war.
Another idea was that both sides need to agree to go to war, but I think this option would cause too many issues to be a practical solution.
To summarise I do agree with the people here who see this as a problem with the game mechanics but can not think of a good solution. Has anyone else any good idea on how to solve this loophole without it adversly effecting genuine wars and without nerfing the real pirates who practice their arts in 0.4 and below (which I think is a good thing, except when I get attacked of course).
BTW: These are all ideas, none of which are perfect (some a long way from perfect ) so please take them that way and feel free to say they are crap ideas or to improve on them.
P.S. Jash please don't put words into my mouth like you did with Andaras - I am merely saying that I think this issue should be looked at in more detail....I was wondering if you replied to the correct thread with your first set of replies since they seemed to have nothing to do with what Andaras initial mentioned?? |
