Since kali came out I have had trouble locking ppl. Everything from miners in belts to ppl at gates etc etc.
So far I thought "this is because ppl are logging2 or he "allready is in warp" and therefore I couldnt target them.
But today I realized that this isnt because ppl are warping out on me or because they warp away.
After killing a dude in a wolf, ratting he comes back in a jaguar to claim revenge. I decide to fight him. I warp to planet so he sees where Im going. Im putting all my mods on, they are "blinking", I think you know what I mean. He warps in and when he gets out of warp I click him on overview. I start to target after reaching 2sec left nothing happens. I ctrl click him again. same thing happens. I do it AGAIN and same thing happens. I deactive all my mods and target him one last time, and now it works. Needless to say he allready dealt enough damage to me to make the fight unintresting.
Anyone got some experince with similar things happen? And if you do try turning all mods off before you target someone and see if it helps, this might be a bugg from kali as I never seen this before.
Time for petitition I guess.

Edited by: Alski on 08/12/2006 19:11:34 There are several situations when you can not lock, and when attempting to do so will only bring up the locking crosshair and timer for a half second before it self cancles.
These situations are: - When the target ship is coming out of warp, and still has the “warping” blue bar on his HUD. - When the Target has entered warp, but has not yet started to accelerate away. (again when the blue “warping” bar is fully blue) - Within 30 seconds of undocking from a station – IF the target does not move, target back or try to warp. - A very short time after de-cloaking when jumping through a gate if the target does not move for the entire duration of the post-jump cloak.
Its very likely you were just trying to lock him while he was still in warp mode. -

I find it unlikely as he was shooting at me for the last three locking attempts, where 2 of them failed.
Hw was not using EW, he wasnt in warp.
Maybe some kind of lagg?

Sounds like some nice packet loss or lag you have between the client and the servers somewhere.
If he's shooting you and it doesnt register on your client, it wont be the server. --*=*=*--

Again this has never happend to me before kali, but several times after (not every time).
I had that cap bugg before (cap wasnt showing correct amounth), can it has even the slightest thing to do with one another?

I've had the same issue a couple of times.
I was unable to target rats in belt for nearly a minute. I was fully out of warp, and getting shot.
Took about 20 attempts to get the lock to work, this was my most extreme case of this problem. At other times it has happened on the odd occasion.

I have had similar experiences. (pre Revlations)
I was 20 seconds into locking a pod and had another 5 left when my targeting stoped. The pod was slow boating to the gate. I started locking again and got about 15 seconds into locking and it dropped.
The target threw up a smiley face after the second attempt. Needless to say he got away.
I also had this happen to me before when targetting ships but chalked it up to an ECM burst until it happened in a .5 sytem on a gate. Can you burst someone in empire one a gate without getting aggro from Concord? I don't think so but have never tested it myself.

When I was ratting a lot some time ago, some times I'd try to lock a rat, and the lock indicator would dissapear, I'd try to relock, lock indicator dissapear etc etc.
The workaround was to not try to relock after the indicator dissapeared, but simply wait, and I'd get a lock at about the same as I normally would.
That bug is quite old though, so yours could be a new one which I don't know yet.

Nah, this is happening a lot lately. We have noticed it alot at gates as we try to target ships either jumping in through the gate or warping to the gate.
We know about the need for the warp bar to disappear when a ship comes out of warp, but when a ship jumps in through a gate, there "should" be no reason a lock can't be obtained. Well, there is a reason and we dont know what the hell it is. All logic points to a problem..

It is nice to see that there are others who have experienced this, because I was pretty certain this was no lagg effect, and Im 100% sure its not because of a mod etc.
Does this post belong here or should I post it in "known issues" forum?

I'll tell you the locking problem I've been experiencing since Kali.
I lock a target and watch the countdown. For example, I see it go for 5.4 seconds to 2 seconds and then magically it goes back to 5.4 seconds and starts over again.
I initially thought it was a fluke but tested it on a mate and same thing happened. The lock time counts down and then starts over again, essentially doubling the lock time.
