Hi,
I have 2x 19" monitors and have been playing eve today so it spans across them both at 2560x1024. It is really really nice at this res but the middle of the ship and UI is ofc right where the image is broken up between the 2 displays.... which is more annoying that you might think.
Does anyone know of a way to set the centre of the game screen so it isn't in the centre. Or atleast the UI?

Eve does not support dual monitors atm. By supporting I mean to have posibility to have 3D accelerated screen for ship and action on one monitor and darn zilion panels on another.
Hey Devs, you can also earn isk from hardware LCD dealers by adding that option :)
I'm sure that alot of players would (me 1st) purchase another monitor right after announcing that option.
Is it so dificult to have floating panels like in photoshop or flash, which are draggable and visible outside of main window? --

yeah all you really need is an "undock view" thingy on the UI and your ship so you can drag it to a different position on your screen. A bit like in MS flight simulator with the various bits and bobs.
All the other bits are fine. it's just the centre line that screws it up. Does my bum look big in this cape? |

You'll get used to the ship being in between the monitors. I did.
If you can't get used to it, get a 3rd monitor so your ship is in the middle one Free Eve Wallpaper | Corporate Bookmarks |

It is much easier and cheaper to just whine on forums till CPP introduce that.

lol I have considered a belikn tripple head unit, but my monitors are discontinued.. hence why I could afford 2 of them, and a tripple head unit costs about ú300
I can live with the ship being broken in two, but the ship UI is really confusing. keep thinking I'm at half armor cus I don't think to look past the break in the screen. All they need to do is make the ship UI drag and droppable for that. I can see that being able to move the centre line could be a bit more of an issue to achive, but you can temp to that by holding the right mouse button. Be good if you could let go of the mouse and the ship stay where you left the view though

Since you have all that extra space why not enable the solar systems maps (F11), that should budge the main console to the left screen at least. The modules might span the break though.

Or, CCP could just take 2 minutes to program it the right way... the game's been out for how many years now, and they won't let people drag UI element window around? Meh.

Actually when you hit F11 it just bumps the overview to the left... the UI and ship stays in the same place Does my bum look big in this cape? |

I had the same problem, I tried it for a while, but I the splitting up of the shield/armor/structure bars was just really annyoing. I've got it set at 2304x864 window mode with my 2 screens setup at 1280x1024 now. When you drag the window to the right upper corner of your screen you'll get your ship, "health" bars, targets and overview on the right side of your screen. I'm using the left side of my screen for conversations, local and everything else that uses windows (like the market). In short, try 2304x864 window, drag to right upper corner, use left side for window stuff, right side for combat. Works great :D
Oh, I'd like to add you've got just enough room left to place TS/vent on the left side next to your eve window on your screen, so you can see who's talking.

Aah, it used to work back in the day. I run 2 clients now though, one windowed on each screen.

I've not gotten it to work with Eve Online. But it works in Oblivion.
Cheaper than the Matrox unit :p

Could you play it in a window which is slightly less wide than your two monitors, and have it with, say, 2/3 on one monitor, 1/3 on the other (leaving 1/2 of that other monitor unused for eve)?
Would un-centre the ship, at least.

Edited by: Krxon Blade on 09/12/2006 11:54:02 Untill developers add true dual monitor support into EVE.
All current sollutions are just workarounds and not adequate. Eve is game which needs alot of panels to be open at same time. Especialy when in aliance during battle time: you need to have 4 windows just for chatting: local, aliance, coporation and gang chat window opened. And if you some kind of wing leader you need even 5th one where main orders comming from.
Im simply tired of constant moving, resizing, opening and closing various panels on my screen.
Another annoying bug: my "items" panel is sharing settings with loot panel. So every time I undock I need to readjust loot panel size and position. Annoying! --

Actually the divide gives an exact representation of 50%, its a little weird at first but I couldnt go back to the cramped situation of 1280x1024, with Overview settings, local, my other chat windows, modules etc... Theres barely any space for the actual ship anyway, so having the ship split isnt that bad tbh.
I'd love proper dual screen support though.

i have run at 3840 X 1024 for 6 months now and EVE supports it properly, screen isn't stretched by much as aspect ratio is pretty good
invest in a 3rd monitor and the TH2G from matrox

Is there any way to get that to work with a 9600 pro from ATI or would I need a new gc?

There are issues with the ATI cards. Check out the forums on the Matrox site (www.matrox.com) for more info - ATI says it's a matrox problem, matrox says it's ATI.
I love my TH2G - it does require a pretty hefty video card tho, you're pushing a LOT of pixels, basically equivalent to a single 2560*1600 monitor.

What I'd like to see is the ability to have the main screen we have now on my 20" widescreen monitor, and being able to have the map open on my 19" monitor. Also all the chat boxes on the 2nd monitor as well. _________________________________________________________________________

yes ,that would help lots of people
but ask most any they would say we'd rather see more features/bug fixes than time spent getting a twin monitor support out(and then testing and bug fixing and coping with all the different Gcards out there)

i have been running at 1600x1200 ona 21 inch for about a year the only problem i have is sometimes i have to squint to read the chat text heh
if i were to get a second monitor, my problem would be desk space, my desk isnt big enough, but my monitor does have a shelf ontop of it built for a second monitor or printer, thats where i would like to be able to shift menus about to have the graphics above and the menus below, as i can pretty much play by overview (used to fly a trader, never actuallty saw the stars for menus heh)

omg! a thread that isnt about the server???
i know someone was running it on a triplehead card with 3 screens and it worked very nice.
the problem with dual is the fact you mentioned with the center UI being split. the day we get a customizable UI or proper dual screen support you will have to live with it i think.

Wish had that, it rocked... sadly it was the best feature of the game...
I'd love to see it in EVE though.
