Why did they get rid of it? I find it annoying have to completely quit the game to get on my other character !

I think the removal had something to do with changes to the launcher, and needing a new login session per character. Basically it was tech related, rather than UX related. The only way to switch characters was to completely log out of the game. It has always been this way since the beginning of EVE. Why? Because of some deeply ingrained legacy code that (and I am paraphrasing here); require a team of DEVs to spend 6 months to revise the code that would ultimately save players about a minute or so. Logoff and quit did pretty much the same thing. Dump you to desktop. If anything logoff dumped you to the initial log in screen. All you need to do now is close the client and hit logon again with the launcher. i do it all the time OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining! It won't be much faster but people will think that it is.

Now if you want to switch characters but have already changed character on a different account, you have to log back in again which is fcking annoying. Hitting play doesn't work when it's launching the wrong account.

Then you need only click the little X on the client you want to switch. Takes about 10 seconds to switch a character on the same acct. and maybe 20 seconds to open a character on another acct.
