So there I am minding my own buisness playing Day of Defeat Source. (WWII FPS) And I've been on american servers seen as how I've moved to Vancouver from scotland 5months ago and I get a nice ping connection. SO yeah, I notice there is alot of racism, mainly the word n****rs. I think that's pretty racist so I comment "Man, you americans sure are racist." (okay so I generalised my bad, but I know it's mainly the young people 14-18 year olds). Then someone says to me whatever! we don't care! We do what we want in america! so I'm like.. okay fair enough, then some guy calls me a foriegn idiot. I say hold on, isn't this more racism, then they ask where I'm from I say Scotland.. then someone (musta been one of the more educated) says "OMG he's from england!" ER... no I'm not.. YES YOU ARE! okay, I'm from britain. Then they start telling me to respect america because there army will blow me up. I said "yeah okay, sorry to 'cause a fuss. please don't send your scary army to kill me." then they tell me to STFU YOU NOOB! YOU KNOW NOTHING!! I'm like okay, I know nothing. Sorry. I must be as non educated as yourselfs. Then they continue to tell me nothing good comes out of england, britain is a piece of crap etc etc. Then (because we playing WWII game) they tell me I was lucky america saved me. and said we were a useless country with nothing good. After a few random insults thrown at me, I say that we have the most elite force in the world.. the UK SAS, but then they shoot me down DELTA FORCE, RANGERS! OMG OMG! YOU NOOB! WE WILL KILL YOU! Your country will be destroyed by ONE of our nukes. I'm like hey whatever lol. Then someone new says "Higgy(my nick on fps's), Your from brittish?!" I say "yes, I'm from scotland." then one of the other guys say "OMG HE'S AN IDIOT!!! HE THINKS SCOTLAND IS BRITISH!" I'm like it is... last I checked. and he goes "No it's not you idiot!! SCOTLANDS at war with the british, it always has been!!" Okay, I tried to ell him what countries are part of britain, I was then slated for being an idiot and repeatedly called a noob. Please, all americans.. Tell me. Your not all like this are you? You all know Scotland and england are seperate countries and are part of britain"

The Isle of Man is not a member of the European Union. The Term 'British Isles' refers to the Geographical area which includes more than 6000 isles and not to any particular country, because The Republic of Ireland is part of the British Isles but not part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island. All seems very straight forward to us British because this is where we live. England is well ahead of the rest of the other areas in terms of population and it's understandable why people assume that England refers to the whole geographic area. I had to explain it myself to some American students whilst I was at Uni, they obviously weren't studying Geography . In fairness to them however i'm sure there are plenty of countries in the world (most of them) where I would go and be completely ignorant of the true way in which the geographical area is governed.

England is not Britain For anyone interested, Great Britain came about after the act of union in the 17 or 1800's which make the countrys into one, new bank notes, controlled via london etc etc. Most americans are not stupid (English myself) but you do find idiots in any part of the world, and they do generally group together. The Internet as a medium is very good at letting people express views which they would normally not in person due to there environment and/or confidence level. Try not to generlise age, gender or race and you'll be fine. * One day ill learn to proof read but dammit not today!

Also persuaded american tourists that haggis are the small creatures that live on hills, and it was traditional to hunt them in a kilt with a spear... and got 'em to go to a kiltmakers and ask for a haggis-hunting kilt. best bit was the shop sold one to them. then there's the ones who are convinced Braveheart is historical fact... (it's amazing what they have at the wallace monument, and how much the tourists swallow. Amazing skill Wallace must have had, to use a sword made at least two centuries after he died... )

I'm a US Marine and I can't help but LOL at someone saying that Rangers are "leet". Getting jump wings != elite. Rangers are no more "elite" than Marine Recon. As far as Britains armed forces are concerned, at least from a US Marines point of view, they are A-OK. I've always wanted to work with Royal Marines but haven't gotten the chance yet. (I'm still LOL @ Ranger "leetness"...) I'm gonna stop here because this post has given me a splitting headache. Not all of us are retards. Wherever you go, and whatever you do there will always be that 10% that just don't get it.

A Scotsman invented a television that was a piece of crap. the entire system was dropped with in 9 years of invention. I am suprised anyone could consider something that worked mechanically a television. it wasn't really TV until Marconi made a electronic one. before then it was just radio that could be augmented with pictures. Back to the original post the N-word is used mostly by blacks among each other. just listen to rap videos. I don't know why they do that but they do. So you were likely either dealing with African Americans or white people that think they are black.

While I know it means the island itself as a geographical entity, thanks the Romans (salvete), isn't the correct political name the UK, after the above-mentioned Act of Union under Queen Anne (IIRC, maybe Mary and William), meaning England, Scotland, Wales, and N.
