I just read that they can empty your character's account of 350mill.

Bug abuse? They didn't abuse a bug. They were able to exploit something that CCP thought of as somewhat of a non-issue. Nobody else had done it, or thought of it. Then when a GM went into Yulai and told them to stop, they said, "no, I don't think we will."
As stated above Piracy in Eve is measured in nothing more than infamy. Take a look at the so called "top pirate corps" in Eve. m0o did more ISK damage fighting against alliances than they ever could have hoped to have done with actual piracy. But they were the first pirates, killing people almost instantly after release. This makes them infamous. Which makes them "top pirates," even though as far as generating and destroying ISK with piracy, they probably weren't in the top 10.
