I'm sorry but i had a wow account, and found the pvp awful. sit there and mash frostbolt in a battlefield then get uber-raped when 20 rogues jump on you.
eve has waaaay more tactics involved. and a noob has a chance against a vet. In wow you don't unless you're a twink.
and everyone hates twinks.
edit: grammar
EVE and WOW PVP are vastly different and thus cannot be directly compared. EVE requires tactics in the sense of organisational capacity, ship setups and managing the activities of large groups of players as in fleet battles (this is more akin to WOW PVE rather than PVP). Your attempt at simplifying wow pvp to "mashing frostbolts" is akin to me over-generalising EVE pvp to who can fit the most NOS. But I would not do this because I am aware that this glosses over the complex interplay of game mechanics.
WOW PVP represents a complex set of rules to be learned, a vast matrix of possibilities depending on class, gear, talent spec and player skill and as I stated certain classes require more 'learning' than others. After over 12 months hardcore pvp on my rogue (rank 13 btw) I will fight someone who does something that I have never seen before; in short, I will learn something new. The same cannot be said of EVE for me; 1v1 or small skirmishes offer very basic possibilities and outcomes which could be learned in a short time, ship setups throw in a degree of randomness but it is all too easy to predict your opponent. This can be discerned in the Caldari PVP championships; many of the matches are to be blunt boring, there are a few setups which work and these are generally employed by the smart teams such as The Five and BOB.
But don't suppose I favour WOW over EVE. That is certainly not the case; the thrill of the tangible possibility of loss in EVE provides something that WOW doesn't.
And one last thing, my main was in m0o corp since 2003 up until its closure so I have seen EVE PVP at the sharp end ;-) I won't state the reason why I don't post on that character because that's another story.
In conclusion, WOW PVP is good! It provides a quick fix of fun and a welcome break from what EVE has to offer.
PS: Reiisha are you trying to say I am a horny teenager?! I know what you mean though...

I think the best place to ask World of Warcraft questions would be a WoW forum or community one. You will get better answers there, WoW can't be compared to EVE both are very different games, but from what I hear WoW is more relaxing play style but with less rewarding feeling and much less player interaction than EVE has.
I really don't know why EVE players hate WoW? Why not EQ that is much older and been around longer or other games like WoW? I mean it's just another MMO why do they get so worked up about it?

Meh, you post this on the WoW forums and you'll get nothing. The WoW forums are basically desert regions where only smack-talk and forum trolling reaps any rewards. Put a sensible thread up there and you'll get ignored if not for the most part then totally.

what ever you do dont log onto WoW. Instead go out and buy Company of Heroes....Set the game to HARD...and have fun.
Everytime I see screens of WoW...I am happy I never bought and installed the game.

Seriously, do not play WoW, Elves and Orcs have been overdone, and the game mechanics of WoW are not friendly to newer players.

I'm thinking of trying WoW once I get dsl in my town. Eve is a great game, but once in a while I like to play something different and Guildwars really isn't doing it that much for me anymore(played that game a LOT for a year or so). I think the key for either game is probably getting into a mature guild that play for fun and not to be "the best".

Now, find EVE, open it, log on, continue playing.

I play both Warcraft and Eve. Where eve is cold, harsh and to the point, Warcraft is there to pick up and go. As it has been said before, it depends on what you feel like playing at the moment.
Warcraft is, for a lack of a better word, a huge grind. There is no single point of victory that you can aim for which will make you great.
You want to have the best armor? Raiding for months on end while waiting in a DKP/priority line with 40 other people that want the same thing. And unlike eve, the equipment can make the player. No matter how much skill I have, against someone with the highest quality gear the odds are slanted against me by a large amount.
To gain reputation with any faction is also an immense grind. Typically things like one point for each enemy killed, or 10 points for handing in a stack of cloth.... when your rep required is 21,000.
The only way to truly make a name for yourself in WoW will be to form up a good arena team. However, these are for lv70s, so it will be a while before this comes out.
Still, it can be a fun experience. You can level alone, which is a godsend coming from FFXI. I am a loner by heart and sometimes I just like to mindlessly kill things to pass the time. I rolled a female human rogue as my friend got me into the game and he went alliance. That, and horde are ugly, repulsive lanky sacks of cow dung. :p

STOP RIGHT NOW YOUNG MAN!!!! do not, and i repeat myself do not install wow!!! It will consume your mind and take your soul. It isnt a bad game, has a matter of fact its actually pretty aceptable and very, very addicting (thats the problem). The only problem about that game are the 10 year old boys playing it and ruining the gameplay experience of every1 else! So, do yourself a favor and the next time you decide to install wow on your computer leave your house and go for a loooonnngg walk, pick up some girl and enjoy the life. Too bad it took me almost 10 months to realize that the game was built by the devil himself =P

Edited by: Sandreon on 17/12/2006 00:58:03 Edited by: Sandreon on 17/12/2006 00:55:14 I played WoW for about two months, I took my time and reached lvl 46 playing an Orc warlock. I did have an RL friend to play with but he's more of the obnoxious "OMGZ _BER LOOT" type of a guy. The guild I ended up in consisted of 500 of the most idiotic people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.
I must admit that the Warlock is one of the best designed and most interesting classes of all RPG-s I've played. I really had fun the first few weeks or so. In the end, though, after having tried and failed the Uldaman instance for five times with four other morons as usual, I asked myself: "Why am I doing this?" I quit then and there and never looked back.
To the OP: please don't even install WoW, in the end you'll only be disappointed.
