Trader is trading, hauler is hauling.
Find nice office on some hub system, look for most frequent station in that system. I recommend some mid-sized hub for beginning, major hubs have heavy competetion.
Make yourself comfortable in your new office and open market. Browse items (ship modules, implants, skills, whatever) and look for ones with high volume traded everyday and nice difference between buy and sell orders. There is a lot of these items.
So you have found nice item worth of 10M at sell, with 20 units daily trading volume. Now you need to setup buy order, region wide. Buy price at hub is like 8 Million, but that is only system wide order. You don't need to beat that one (but you can, if margin is high enough for you), however you need to beat other region wide (or 3+ jumps) buy orders. I guess your buy order will be about 7M. Setup it for 10 units for example.
Now sit and relax, go to local bar or something. When your buy order gets filled, open Contracts interface and setup Courier missions. For 10M item, 500k is more than enough, your missions will be done in few hours. Once items arrive to your hangar in hub system, put them on market for lowest hub price. Do not beat some lowsec sell orders, or even sell orders in other systems - you dont need to. Ppl are lazy and they will look for hub sell orders only. So we said this item was 10M, you will be selling for 9,999,999 :).
Wait til then your stock sells and then enjoy your 20 Million profit. Apply this to more items and you will be able to run nice trading business without leaving your office or risking your life in low security systems.
Key for success is in watching your orders. Check them at least once per day, ideally 2-3x per day and keep them at ideal position. Remember, buy order which is under 3 another region wide ones is useless.
When selling, don't undercut brainlessly, do it only if it can help you. Lowsec sell orders or sell orders 5 jumps from hub are not competetion. Always use minimal undercutting steps - if you undercut by 1 Million, others will follow so only result will be lower profit for everyone.
Good luck.
