you know, if this is the way people treat each other in real life and in alternate realities, AND do nothing to improve their interaction with people, I foresee a very bleak future of the human race. Way to go people you've just downgraded yourselves from "Civilized" to the savagery of a baboon. excellent notion, you guys must be great role models.
If World of Warcraft is the epitome of civilization, someone better hand me a godamn banana right now.

Right?
Oh wait... Wannabe trolls.
Have you ever tried to accept a freeform scam?
The confirm box basically says "the other pilot has COMPLETE control over this, do not accept it unless you trust them implicitly".
About all they could do more to warn you would be change the confirm button to read "bend over"

WTF does World of warcraft have anything to do with this? there's pvp servers on WoW... which have people JUST as bad. and you know what, it's people like Mr.pringles who force the action that Blizzard and modern day Government and Police have taken to prevent such atrocities from happening. Yet, people complain there's too much regulation in their lives. Pity..... and I wonder if the proof of intelligent life other than on Earth is simply because none of them have taken the time to contact us. <scratches chin> hmmm

Peoples actions speak just as loudly as their words. How people choose to interact with others is just as loud....
I am fully aware of the fact that it's a game, but somehow I get the feeling that it's not an intended part of the game to grief and scam by the way of marketing purposes. The only reason people scam, probe into a mission, and kill newcomers is simply that it's easy and that they CAN do it. It may be immoral or not intended but since it's there, it's gonna be used. should I, or shouldn't I, that be the question. =)

But it is intended, CCP themselves stated that it is a key element of the game.
And do you honestly not think low sec and 0.0 mission runners were meant to be scanned down?
These are all integral parts of the game, if you dislike it go to www.wow-europe.com and enjoy the "ress at GY" option.

I didnt' want this to escalate to another redundant pve vs. pvp discussion. I'm merely mentioning an idea, which was "do you think the proof of intelligent life outside of our own (ET, other worlds and civilizations) is quite simply that they haven't contacted us?"
considering "given the way people interact with each other, the lack of trust for the fellow man the inability for us to resolve our differences and resort to weapons in the name of ideological fervor, child molestations, rape, gangs, blah blah blah the mere fact that we as a human race are barely a step up from the savagery of a baboon...."
with that in mind, consider the fact that there are reasons why there are nerf's and regulation from CCP, because CCP aptly puts their trust into the players that they will have some sort of tact towards each other and make it easier for us to use contracts as a form of marketing for the game, only to find that it's being abused and nerf it. hmmm WHHYYYY? because someone like mr. pringles thought it was funny to rip off not only 450m worth of monetary value, he also ripped off countless hours of time it took the other person to get that 450m, all simply cuz it was blissfully possible to, despite the ramifications of his behavior.

Just like in real life, if you are not careful bad stuff can happen. If the contract system was never meant to be abused why is freeform an option? And why is there a huge warning message? Whoose fault was it that the warning fell on deaf ears?

Wow... way off topic now..
To the OP, sorry to hear you were scammed.
To the scammer, come up with something more original
To people who can't understand: there are rules and there are morals, don't get them confused. If rules allow it and you have no moral objection, by all means... have fun.

Obviously that was not the purpose indeed, but not much they can do about it? Easist way to spot such unsocial fellows is to observe how people communicate with others. Do they respect them or just smack and insult?
Then again, you cannot make such personality analyze based on available mini-professions players have chosen to follow. Some people build things, some pvp, some pirate while many go for scamming.
Or like my favourite analogy: compare those professions to the dreadful habit of some chess players of _eating_ opponent's queen... Eve is tame compared to that.

well people that makes scams like this (clearly on perpose) should just be permanent banned... its game destroying and idiotic
I agree, I do hope they will get banned because I bet a lot of players that got scammed got angry and quit playing eve. Atleast I almost did..
no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. im starting to get rather tired of people saying "OMG HE SCAMMED! HE SHOULD BE PERMENANTLY BANNED!". EVE is the awesome game it is because of the RISK involved when playing it. risk doesnt just apply to pvp. the reason you all have this ultra-realistic player-maintained market is BECAUSE of things like this. these things happen in real life to those who are stupid enough to let it happen, and the same applies here.
problem numero uno here is that just because someone got scammed, people instantly cry that its down to the fact it was so easy in the first place, and therefore is an exploit. and in fact its quite the opposite. if i go and put up a random free-form contract for some zydrine, nobody will buy it. fact. However, if i take my time and put in the effort.... find a victim stupid enough to fall for it, talk to him a bit and make him feel at ease, cover my tracks, etc etc etc, THAT is when scams prevail. and the scammer deserves everything he gets.
CCP should put a button on the petition menu saying "report a scam". but blank it out with strikeout text and put underneath it "service will be resumed once people figure why this is blanked out".

So scammers nearly made you quit eve, nearly making CCP lose out on your one measly subscription?
Ok, let me make this crystal clear.
The day CCP turns EvE-online into some pitiful space clone of WoW (start banning for scams) all my THREE accounts will be closed down, and I can assure you many other hardcore eve fans will do the same, many of whom have far more accounts than I myself do.
Now, I don't think CCP gives a hoot what I say here, they don't need my three accounts, but their marketing departement is WELL aware of their most unique selling point.
Welcome to EvE - Do or Die. Love, CCP.

Totally agree, i have three myself, and they would all be cancelled if EvE were changed so much that it lost that risk factor.
The risk in this game is what makes me want to play it. Without the risk, it would be another game that i would play for two weeks and then say 'Meh, it wasn't bad' and forget about it.

Are you completely sure about that? The Crime and Punishment forums is nothing but pirates slapping each other on the back for raping some noob, corp thieves congratulated for bankrupting someone to the point they might quit, scammers carried by the masses hailed as heroic, and just about all of them posting on how to make best use of "Game Mechanics" to **** people off for a metric F-Ton of whatever they earned.
Given the ratio of "Crime" posts to "Punishment" for said crimes, I think CCP made the game and a private bet was made amongst the devs as to how long it would take to turn average, everyday socially functional people into sociopaths.
Whichever one bet on 2 weeks probably won.
To the OP, sorry you got tooled in the chute. CCP allows it. Life is hard, get a helmet.

I guess people in eve cannot be trusted.
I wanted to private convo him but he blocked me.. I already sent in a petition.
First of all the price was not right and yes u can not trust any 1 in eve
And it would not suprise me if this scam possibility was bild in on purpose by CCP .
