ISSN Abandon Hope, Apocalypse Class Battleship, ISS Marginis
After a long day it was time to stand down. Algey was exausted, unlike the crews of his previous ships that had been vented into space.
Algey view his logs, and tried to put the day into order.
Twenty hours earlier the construction of a new outpost had just began. Yes there had been warnings that IAC were about to invade, however they had always been reasonable neighbours, when they could stop their more questionable corps shooting ISS hauler traffic. Since IAC had removed their pets from the alliance there had been no more problems with IAC and it was considered that the negotiators would deal with the current tensions.
ISSN were strung out all over the galaxy after deploying the new station, and the alliance, whilst alert was not on a war footing. Many of the alliance were exausted from the work of building another station, and numbers were low.
Then suddenly over galnet there had come a warning that IAC were about to attack, followed by a number of attacks. Command had been quickly informed, and IAC changed from Blue to Red. Not quickly enough for the first losses, but in time to stop a general massacre.
Then IAC were all over the station systems. There was an attempt to rally the exausted troops, with an excellent response, but people were scattered so far apart.
What came next were a series of fast running battles with light elements from IAC, with ISS elements desperately trying to get together in the face of a lightning attack. These attackers were eventually despatched for moderate losses, chasing them back into F4R. Sadly a loyal crew died along with the previous ISSN Abandon Hope during that battle, but at least the new crew wasn't tired.
The next assaults were worse, with IAC hammering the quickly pulled together fleet in a long running battle. At the end of the day IAC losses were a huge number of T2 frigates, but IAC had kills of 4-1 on battleships.
However ISS wouldn't remain spread out for long, and with each hour ISS assets were moving into place, and the mighty industrial machine switched to military production.
Algey put the log sheets into order and headed for the bar. This was his bar, and just like in 9UY he wouldn't let it fall into the hands of pirates.

As for the people who didn't belive my orginal warning "Na Na told you so "

Not that I would normally talk to an enemy, however I feel that maybe I should reply to this general broadcast.
There was a warning on that rediculous Eve TV which wasn't official, a post on the galnet by someone not known to be the IAC leader, and some general confusion.
Command set IAC to Red at pretty much the same time that attacks started from my perspective, and this is part of the daily writeup of my log files. There was total confusion, and some people were lost who were not sure if IAC were meant to be red or not. Notice I haven't stated that we were attacked by blues, and you can be sure I'd have said that if I saw it.
I am not making an official statement, indeed I am unable to do so under the charter. What I am trying to do is keep a journal from my personal perspective. If this becomes a mudfest then I'll just stop.
Could people posting in my journal thread here on Galnet please try to respect that.

Steven Orzack¦s personal quarters at some soggy way off station
Steven awoke to the smell of shale beer and to a taste even worse.
Having spent the entire yesterday evening enjoying the last day of the Caldari Tournament on GalNet and consuming numerous bottles of the finest adult beverage importet from the Distilleries down in Catch, the last thing he remembered was some brilliant joke about IAC attacking ISS out of frustration about the loss of an Apocalypse Imperial Issue in the quarter finals of the tournament.
He had laughed so hard about this (even harder then he had laughed about the symbol of Amarrian Slaver¦s Power being blown up by an Alliance team who¦s ticker was CoW) that he even wasted a mouthful of his last bottle spewing it all over his GalNet screen.
Steven was thirsty but being too lazy to get up just yet he decided to turn in on GalNet for the latest news and was in for a lot less funny news this time.
Could this really be true? The two most prominent distributors of a free 0.0 space policy, the two most prominent figures of a public accessable part of deep space going at war with each other???
What was this nonesense about? The ego of some overambitious leaders? Was IAC leadership just so ****ed about the loss of their precious golden that they needed some sort of way to vent their anger? Was IAC driven into this because of making friends with too many pirates at last? Maybe it was some sort of conspiracy of dark powers at work here?
Only two things were certain at this point: The conflict was nothing that could be explained by rational reasons only and that Steven¦s head began to hurt even more while trying to figure this one out.
Now he really needed another beer...but before heading out to the next bar on the habitation ring there was a important precaution to take....

ISS MARGINIS
ER0X awoke somewhat swollen eyed from a lack of sleep and the previous nightÆs deployment. He arose from his bed, stiff bones creaked and *****ed, from the outside he must have looked like a half shut knife.
ôThat was a long nightô, he thought. As he stretched.
A smile lit across his face as he remembered how the PRAX fleet in all its glory held crucial positions while the station builders continued their work. It was the first time he had witnessed a station being deployed in 0.0 much like many of the PRAX contingent. Ventrillo *****led an effervescent stream of excitement and laughter much joking and cajoling between the pilots of the combined fleet ensued until finally the leader of the ISS Alliance, Count TaSessine announced, ôGentlemen Serenity station has been deployed ô. The station was built.
He had returned back to Marginis after the EGG had been hatched deep in 0.0. Although he didnÆt quite understand it his gut instinct had told him to return immediately. In the murky light of his cabin a yellowing glow from the Galnet monitor in the corner lit up his sleeping quarters.
ER0X stared at the message on his screen from PRAX command labelled æUrgentÆ. The correspondence simply read æALL Navy Personnel return immediately to Marginis for deploymentÆ. ER0X reached for his communications device and dialled his access codes, to find out any information he could about the deployment.
Connexion established,à He did not speak or ask any questions just listened to the wash of chatter among which he was able to glean from the commanders that IAC had declared ISS -10 enemies. An attack on Tycho Station was imminent. He quickly realised what his gut had told him earlier in the day. He knew it was his duty to represent his Corp, his Alliance and as such adorned his battle dress and made his way to the hanger and fired up his battleships engines.
As the huge battleship undocked the Eve mail Communications panel on the Neo Com blinked into life. Opening his new mail ER0X discovered the contents to be absolutely no surprise at 23:43 on the 10/12/06 GoonSwarm declared war on ISS. With this new player arriving in the affray the information was starting to form together in his mind. ER0X could quite clearly see where all this was leading and wondered how many of these so called Goons actually had stairs in their house or if they all lived in single level ground based domiciles.
The IAC forces had been probing the ISS as ER0X had slept. There had been light casualties on both sides. Anger welled inside as it became clear that the IAC were amassing their fleet on the border gates in nearby systems. Attack was indeed imminent!
The First Wave,à. The fleet commander ordered the assembled defence force of roughly 50-60 mixed support and battleships to take up positions in the ZXIC-7 solar system. Within what seemed like seconds came the first wave of the attack. At least 30-40 IAC in small craft jumped through the gate into ZXIC. The BATTLE had begun!
The PRAX Navy motto resounded in his mind as his blood boiled and the fire in the head raged.
"Cry 'Havoc' and let slip the dogs of war!"
IAC sustained heavy casualties in the first wave. Their forces scattered, regrouped and again the brave IAC pilots came probing for weakness noting the battleship positions and support numbers. With dwindling numbers the IAC retreated and at the end of the first wave the ISS held the field.
Many of the ISS combat pilots scattered through out the universe had not yet received the news or were making their way to Marginis to join with the combined forces of the ISS defence Unit.
The Second Wave,à Reports of an IAC heavy battleship with cruiser size support fleet amassing on the ZXIC gate in F4R came through from forward observers. It was clear that ISS were heavily out numbered. The commander once again announced the order æTake up positionsÆ
The Gate fired again and the forces of ISS and IAC were submerged in the tsunami that ensued. The battle raged for 40 minutes as unbridled carnage was unleashed on all and sundry. Bravery was displayed from the pilots of ISS an IAC alike, jostling for position on the gate. As the fog of war subsided the attackers had gained the position on the gate due to greater numbers of heavy fire power. There were substantial losses on both sides as ISS retreated from the battlefield its resolve undaunted.
The PRAXIS Navy had responded well to the threat and a great sense of pride grew within the young pilot. All inter-corporation politics and bickering had been raised to the ground and scarified from the field of internal alliance politics. All to a man who took place in the affray stood together as brothers on the field of battle and held themselves accountable for the future of the ISS.

I usually don't engage in discussions like this, but you were set RED after our convo, my dear Tyrrax - the convo where you and n sx confirmed you wanted to attack our outposts.
Here is the sequence of events:
Someone announce on Eve-TV that IAC is going to war against us. I don't believe it.
One of your guys posts something that looks like an official declaration of war against ISS on Eve-O. I'm still doubting.
I convo you and n sx. You tell me IAC wants our stations. You're set RED.

Edited by: Algey on 13/12/2006 02:20:49 ISSN Abandon Hope, Apocalypse Class Battleship, F4R2-Q
Yesterday Algey had been forced to do nothing but paperwork. Today Algey had actually managed to get into a ship for a short while. The worst part of being in an alliance was the paperwork Algey mused, as he sat getting his paperwork into order.
Looking at the inteligence information, IAC had specifically "not" threatened to attack ISS Stations. Instead they had "refused to rule it out", even when told that this would affect the entire view of the war. Since IAC had stated that they wouldn't attack ISS, and now were saying they could well attack our stations, one would reasonably assume they were after the stations. If only they had said they wouldn't steal the stations, this could have been fun.
This was a shame. It was great fun fighting their normal invasions, however fun is irrelevant for ISSN when it comes to the defence of stations, and the interest of shareholders.
Algey watched the Large Deathstar Pos going online, and wondered why. ISS had deliberately changed their charter to be more helpful to their allies, yet IAC had ignored this change, harboured enemies under the flag of blue, and refused to listen to the trained ISS negotiators. Sometimes there was no option but to fight.
Earlier today ISS had made mistakes. At first it had gone well, jumping the odd battleship that was lurking unsuported outside stations, but sadly also losing some. Then it had been considered sensible to engage the IAC fleet on the F4 gate in ZX as they invaded, which had gone very badly. A couple of hostile battleships had fallen, but so had five ISS battleships, and a carrier which had oddly wondered over to the gate whilst not in gang. The tactics learnt in 9UY had been so easily forgotten, but were now being dug up again.
Shortly after it had been decided to move the fight to F4R, and ISS assembled with friends. Algey looked at the logs, and decided he still couldn't figure out who was who, and would just have to rely on standings, hoping that another mistake wouldn't happen.
Why IAC had decided to attack another NRDS alliance that had bent over backwards to be friendly couldn't be decided. However as the even newer ISSN Abandon Hope moved back to the dock Algey wondered how long it would last, how many crew members would die, and when IAC would finally stop trying to destroy ISS.

Shooting pos is certainly not out of the question!? Thank you for undermining yourself. You know that attacking an outpost doesn't mean actually shooting the outpost itself right? Edited by: Wylker on 13/12/2006 16:37:17 LV Calico Station (C3-0YD)
Major Wylker shut down his comlink with his admiral, Prefect Six. He still wasn't sure he believed it. Their neighbor in the Catch region, and friend in 0.0, was evidently going crazy. Sure, there had been some incidents with some of the pirate corps that IAC had admitted to their ranks in the past, but those problems had been worked out, with IAC kicking out the scumbags and sending them back to their own corner of space. Diplomatic relations had always seemed to be very good. It just didn't make sense why IAC would attack them out of the blue. There must be some mistake Wylker thought, and I'm sure by tomorrow this will all be cleared up.
His com-link flashed again. It was a quick message from his friend Erox. "Check your intel...now" was all it said. Wylker quickly punched up the relevent system, and entered his secure ID. Oh Lord. ISS ships were being reported engaged and destroyed in KDF-GY by a huge fleet of hostile IAC pilots.
Immediately Wylker called for general quarters on his ship. He sent a quick message to his good friend and partner, Little Strawberry, that they were heading out to do their part. Her response? "I'm already undocked and waiting for you". He also quickly broadcasted that he was leading a fleet down to the battle zone for anyone that wanted to come. While not many pilots were in C3 at that particular moment, other messages began to filter in.
From the farthest reaches of space, systems scattered all over the universe, messages began to be sent. Commander so-and-so reporting. "Our pilots are in their ships, our fleet is forming... We are coming." Thousands of pod pilots began marching towards conflict, determined to stand up for their alliance against this new and unexpected enemy.
As his ship cycled through it's undocking process, and Wylker saw the handful of ships assembled outside station, waiting to be led into battle, he smiled. He was sure that this conflict would be bloody and that many of his lesser trained troops would have to learn their craft very quickly, and that was nothing to smile about. The smile came from the fact that no matter what, he knew the mettle of the people he flew with. He knew that alongside the FCs from the rest of the alliance that the sleeping industrial giant of ISS would be awoken into a deadly force. He knew that they would emerge victorious.
The gang system of his ship aligned and warped his small squad out into space...It had begun.

Nyphur closed his eyes and slowly rubbed his temples in a firm, clockwise motion, his voice comm headset dumped on the desk before him. One deep breath... two... thr-- "NYPHUR! Are you drigitigiv flummuf fmunt? Obyblobyblo?!", interrupted a loud but incomprehensible screech from the black earpiece in front.
Nyphur donned the earpiece with a long, drawn out sigh. "Nyphur here, what can I help you with?", came the inevitable response, with all the fake cheer of a minmatar dancing slave. A moment passed as the earpieces spat words like daggers into his ear. It was a customer. "One moment, please", said Nyphur calmly as he pulled up a spreadsheet on his display. As he glanced over the sylramic fibers profit figures he'd prepared earlier, Nyphur began to scowl.
"You must be smoking some crazy stuff if you think you're getting under one hundred isk per unit, mate", laughed Nyphur to his prospective buyer. His earpiece lit up with noise, like a hundred bees trapped inside a jar.. except the jar was his ever-abused right ear. Nyphur spoke as he doodled his buyer's corp logo on his sketchpad, being eaten by the Pillowsoft blue-silver leaves with giant teeth added for effect.
"Bulk discount? Well what kind of bulk are we talking here?". A moment and an answer later came the words Nyphur was all to familiar with telling his clients. "That's not bulk, mate, we produce over eight million units per week and have sixty million units currently in stock", he rhymed off, adding teeth and blood to the doodle he was drawing. A few minutes of near silence followed. This period of time is what Nyphur had come to call "the restructuring". It was the few minutes where a corporate CEO rearranged his plans to suit the deal he was being given. A billionaire made by personal risky ventures and good trading habits, Nyphur wasn't in the business of being overly accomodating to his clients.
"Now that's a more reasonable amount. Shall we discuss a reasonable price?", he said as he added a speach bubble to the doodle. "Oh no please don't eat me! We produce Tech 2 ships!", mocked Nyphur quietly in a high pitched voice. "What? No sorry, I was just saying something to my secretary.", claimed Nyphur, embaressingly realising he'd said it out loud. "I can do you 110 per unit near Amarr, no delivery", he firmly declared, still feeling a little embaressed but not showing it.
Getting back to business, Nyphur attempted to close the deal. "No, we can't deliver it any closer, we're based in Providence. The product is only a few jumps from Amarr, hire a freighter or something.", he spoke, preparing for the usual response. And sure enough, the client complained about the cost of hiring a freighter. "Alright then, I'll give you a little discount, 108 per unit without delivery.", he conceded as planned, "That should be more than enough to cover a freighter pilot's fees.".
Nyphur picked the colour red on his electronic sketchpad and began to search for an adequately sized brush - the bigger the better. "The contract is in the mail. Thank you for the business, sir. Call me again if you need any more.", Nyphur rhymed off as if he'd said that line a thousand times, and he probably had. He took off his earpiece again and threw it down, scribbling a blood-hue brush over the corp logo of his latest customer and exclaiming "RararWWrwrAra!".
It was just another day at the office for Nyphur. Another hundred million isk on the pile and another satisfied, if slightly riled, customer. The war was raging on nor more than ten jumps north. Nyphur checked the balance sheet history for the ISS Providence account and wondered if this war would increase profits in Catch as the last war did in Providence.
"It just may", he thought to himself. War is good for business.. This war may pay for itself.
