Prolly can't think of a way to implement it without it being highly exploitable or utterly meaningless. Any stocks based on items on the market could have their values manipulated by someone buying/selling the item for inflated/deflated prices, skewing market performance.
And I shudder to think what'll happen when the first corporation gets lost due to poor stock management.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

LOL I think a hostile takeover would be funny as all hell.
I don't know what country you live in jash but in america stocks are shares in a company/corporation. Stocks when used in reference to items usually refers to the amount of that item/s availible and on hand, ie "check your stocks of beer because we have a holiday weekend coming up and expect sales to be high" as a store manager might say to his beverage clerk.
But if a stock market is created I envision that all those shares in everybodies corporation could be sold in such a market, ie like the NYSX on wallstreet, NYC, USA.
And that players could purchase said stocks as an investment with dividends and growth of value in the stock being the motivating factor. Would be a lot of fun IMHO. If you can catch me you can have me. |

Adding a stock market would be pointless right now. What is there to trade or invest in? "Corporations" are really just guilds...groups of players...pure and simple. EVE corporations do not exist as separate legal entities. They do not own tangible or intellectual property. They do not develop and implement business plans. They do not employ their members. They do not negotiate contracts. They do not engage in business transactions. Etc. They are merely conduits for guilds of players to communicate with each other.
I just don't see the point in having a stock market until and unless coroprations become real, tangible, separate business entities with the ability to own property, control mining, manufacturing and distribution processes, and earn profits.
This, in my view, is a major shortfall of EVE. The game could have been (could still be?) much more with tangible, real corporations that function as business entities.

with how screwed up the marketplace is, especially with trade goods, I wouldn't even look at it.
if they find a way to make the market work right, especially for NPC stocks, then I would be all for it. Until then it would just be another excessively manipulated and exploited system that's likely to be broken.

Making corporations costly to fold and recreate is a must, as is making it beneficial to buy items using corporate funds, also tied into the corporate entity, without these actions stock is useless other than for voting.

Yes I too agree that it would be sweet if a little more effort was put into turning corp's into a more viable part of eve's content. If you can catch me you can have me. |

They do have umpteen billions' worth of blueprint originals in the corp hangar and ISK's in the corp wallet though. Buy a majority of shares, force corp closure, and most of that value reverts to you. Or just stand for CEO and lock out everybody else's hangar access, and take the whole lot.
Opening up the stock market would create vast new opportunities for screwing over your fellow players ...PvP doesn't have to mean guns, after all.

I would love to see eve move more towards the corporate model it aimed for in the beginning. It would add alot more depth to play, and ceos would have to be that much more carefull in how they ran their corps.

If you know anything of the RL stock market you understand that it is "impossible" to implement in this game.

Not at all, base share value on skillpoints total and member activity, the logging of said activity will be the hard part, to make fair and to not have the server crumble under.
