This will be replaced with losing voicecomms when you crash, which is worse TBH.
No. Voice coms will stay even if you crash. The Vivox people aren't stupid noobs :)
The reason for using this is it's easiness. You just click and talk. No loging on, no finding the right channel, no telling people to log on ts so you could talk, no spies, no password changes, no drag me here or "we are on LV ts now"
Just click and talk.
Also, you will not be able to talk in local for obvious reasons. :)

I've been dying to hear some nasal voice reaching across to me from the depths of space, "nyaah nyaah you can't catch my shuttle. I had a battleship BPO in my cargo too."
I wish they would do this, not so I could smack in local over voicecoms (hate the sound of my voice recorded anyway), but because in the last three days alone I'd been in two chases with interceptors for which Yakety Sax (sp?) would have been perfect. I'd just spend my time piping appropriate MP3s into local.
I'm laughing my guts out right now.
I think you just earned Vivox another 10 dollars.

I'm curious: How will they manage this if the Vivox voice features are integrated into EVE Client. When EVE crashes = no more voice/vivox. Only way to keep voice after EVE client crash wouldbe an external (non integrated) vivox client. |

The last I heard the first implementation will die with Eve, but they will add OOG communication with it at a later date.
However: 1. It's been a while since I heard that 2. Vivox was pushed back IIRC, so they may get this into the first version. It is a make-or-break feature for many people after all. ----------

Except that it apparently won't be a feature . But I have a fraps of one of the chases, the better one actually, so I can just do a video of it instead, and release it alongside the one where my warp scrambled blasterax desperately tries to get to a stargate under heavy fire to the theme of Chariots of Fire. ----------

The connection to the vivox server have to be made ingame, but once you are connected you will stay connected even if the eve client crashes. So my guess is an external vivox client that needs eve to make connections, but not to keep them. I'll say it again: The Vivox people aren't stupid noobs :) From what they told us at the fan fest you can't connect outside of eve, but when you do connect with the integrated connection part in the eve client your voice com is redirected to dedicated vivox servers that will stay up even if eve doesn't.
Having a voice com that stops working when eve crashes is just stupid so why would they do it?

They were going to originally. If you don't believe me look up the old threads about the features.
Nice to know they sorted it. ----------
